kgvarrato Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) Hi group, I just finished my 1/16th scale Kenworth winch truck. Started back in August from an old original Monogram donor cab and chassis. Stripped down the paint and filled in some holes and bad Testors glue tracks from the prior owner. Since Monogram only makes the KW, Pete, and flatbed trailer everything other than the cab, hood, wheels and frame are from the kit. Everything else is custom using brass, Plastruct, and Evergreen. I found a few pictures from the net, there were so many options I kinda used a few ideas from different mfgrs. I added a winch control stand in the cab between the seats. The from bumper is stationary but the guard is pinned so it drops down to open the hood. I pinned the front axle it is steerable, and added valve stems on the wheels. One thing I found that helped out a lot was using stained glass paint for the clear lights in the kit, Monogram only uses clear lens. The decals are my own custom ones printed in gold from my Alps and include this years fuel tag, PA plate and inspection and weight sticker on the windshield. Headlights, pogo sticks, bed light and light bar all light up. Hid the batteries in the battery box using 2AAA and one 9Volt. Here is a YouTube link for a video of the lights. http://youtu.be/wfO63y-1o0U Edited March 27, 2014 by kgvarrato 1
