CarModDave Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Here's the latest to come off of the bench, built using the AMT kit: 1991 Chevrolet C1500 454SS pickup. Besides cutting open and hinging the doors, there's lots of scratchbuilt items as well: bed cover, bed cover hinges, vent visors, battery brackets, cowl hood, exhaust, under hood cannisters/fluid containers/pumps, seat risers and seat adjustment hardware, etc., plus plenty of Pro Tech braided lines/fittings and on and on........ The overall ride height was lowered to better match the 1:1 replica as well. The model is now at it's new home and the owner is quite proud of the new 1:24 replica of his 1:1 !
lonewolf Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Awesome build Dave. I was following the build process on another site ( can't remember which one ). Great to see the finished job. Fantastic attention to detail.
gasman Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 absolutely amazing. its nice to see a modern subject get super detailed.
dub Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Excellent work! I have a place near my heart for this truck. I have a custom one built already and a box stock one on the bench. Neither one is even close to this detailed though. The interior detail is superb. I love how accurate the steering column and dashboard are.
lambertjr Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 This is an outstanding build. Great interior and engine detail and the paint job is simple and couldn't look better.
RatRod Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Wow!!!! That is amazing!!! Nice clean build, and all your hard work makes it look as real as a can be!!!
bsoder Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Saw this posted somewhere else...kinda hard to forget ..just a fantastic build...

JayVee Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Outstanding project, the amount of detail you've added is staggering! I always look forward to seeing your work.
Gray Smith Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 awesome detail!, very well done build man..I love it. I think I speak for many in that we all have built this kit at some point in our lives(i've built 2 or 3 and I've got one still in the box to finish) Your builds are always inspiring.. Gray
Lyle Willits Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Fantastic build! One of the best late-model builds I've ever seen.
CarModDave Posted December 31, 2007 Author Posted December 31, 2007 (edited) Thanks again, everyone. This was a fun build and I actually learned a few things along the way! Anyway, just for some reference, here's a few pics of the 1:1 that I replicated. The scale version is the "updated" truck, as the 1:1 has had a few mods done since the pics were taken: cowl hood; new, black paint with NO red body pinstripe; lowered 3 " front, 2" rear; new "blackwall" tires and new all-chrome 454SS wheels. Here's the "real" thing: Edited December 31, 2007 by CarModDave
