mikemodeler Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Harry, If you plan on driving this car in the terrible winter weather of Chicago, why not have these as your "winter" wheels and look into a set for the nicer weather? Check out The Tire Rack or Discount Tire for new wheels and there are always a bunch of car shows and swap meets where you might be able to find a set of matching factory wheels discounted. Polishing those wheels by hand one at a time will definitely take some muscle and time, hope you are up for the challenge!
Harry P. Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Already done. I didn't polish the whole wheel, just sanded off the corrosion around the center caps. It took about 5 hours to jack up the car, remove the wheel, wash the wheel inside and out, sand off the crud, spray the clear, wait for it to dry, remount the tire, lower the jack, and repeat the process three more times!
Harry P. Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Before... After... Not perfect, but a lot better than before I started!
crazyjim Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Much better looking Harry. Hope your work lasts a long time.
mikemodeler Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Wheel looks great, but those calipers are looking pretty crusty, I think you have another project next weekend Harry!
