Mr Stock Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Hi all, I got this et of steelies in a big box of parts Im hoping that someone can identify them, I think they are AMT and they probably date from the late 60s ish, (the box of parts were mostly model T parts from the 60s Double T issue.) I'm thinking Mopar but I'm probably way out..... Edited April 14, 2014 by Mr Stock
tubbs Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 well, I am not an expert, but mopar steel rims have 3 little nubs in the ring that holds the cap and only have 4 narrow slots...tried to upload a picture, but the all seem to be too big. i am really not sure, googled chevy, ford and Chrysler and i cant figure it out. sorry. you will get your answer, somebody knows.
Austin T Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 They look like the steelies off of one of amt's boat kit trailers. That would also explain why there is only two.
oldnslow Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Those look like Chevy rally wheels, one is a front, the spindle sticking through and the other is a rear, flat center.
Exotics_Builder Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Those look like Chevy rally wheels, one is a front, the spindle sticking through and the other is a rear, flat center. I agree with that. That is the closest they appear to be.
slusher Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Look like the Chevy steel wheels from the AMT 69 Chevelle kit. They have chrome caps that go on them.. You have a front and a rear in the picture.
Toner283 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Look like the Chevy steel wheels from the AMT 69 Chevelle kit. They have chrome caps that go on them.. You have a front and a rear in the picture. They are not from the 69 Chevelle kit. The wheels in the Chevelle kit have posts on the back of the rim for the metal axles and the center of the wheel face has no lug nut details at all, just a smooth surface to glue the caps in place. Those do definitely look to be a Comaro/Corvette style rally wheel though. I also have a couple of those in my parts box and always wondered what kit they had come out of.
Casey Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 They are from the AMT annual Corvette kits, one front (with the hub dust cover protruding) and one rear wheel.
Exotics_Builder Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 They are from the AMT annual Corvette kits, one front (with the hub dust cover protruding) and one rear wheel. Man you are quick. I just went downstairs to check my Chevy kits to try and confirm.
mcandela Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Actually they are from the MPC Corvette annuals, (71-74) from way back. Edited April 14, 2014 by mcandela
Exotics_Builder Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Actually they are from the MPC Corvette annuals, (71-74) from way back. Thanks as well. Saved me from opening up a lot of boxes to check. Both Vettes and Camaros.
Casey Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Actually they are from the MPC Corvette annuals, (71-74) from way back. Thanks for the correction.
Mr Stock Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 Cheers guys, I was way off with Mopar then, I do have all 4 wheels just didn't want to end up putting them on a completely wrong car!, so early 70s Corvette or other Chevy. Might make a cast of these to make some spares from resin.
dustym Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 These are from the 70 LT-1/ZR-1 AMT Corvette. To build a stock ZR-1 it needs these and the radio delete decal.

Guest Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Just an FYI. Ed Fluck casts these wheels. I think he sells them for around $5 a set. But, I couldn't swear to that price. I have a couple of sets and they're nice.
