charlie8575 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I've found it necessary to strip a car painted with Testors lacquer. From what I've read, most people seem to like 91% alcohol for doing this. A few still have luck with Purple Power/similar. Added wrinkle: the car was primed with Dupli-Color primer, and some of it is still exposed. I'm wondering if the Purple Pond would work around the topcoat and do the trick anyway. Thoughts? Charlie Larkin
Draggon Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I've had the pond do stuff to dupli-color primer, it made the thin areas sort of act like it would if you were wiping down a steel body with lacquer thiner.
Jantrix Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 The purple stuff will attack the primer. Sand down to it on major body areas and let the lye do it's work on the primer. The paint will just slide off like a snake skin. It will take a few days and repeated help with an old toothbrush is recommended.
Belugawrx Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I like Brake fluid, it takes only 4 - 6 hrs and can be re-used again and again just remember to wash with isopropyl and water after
