TheCat Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 As I mentioned, I'm taking a break from building Muscle Cars and Imports to work on a few Police Cruisers... Currently I'm in the middle of building the Brick Township new Police Cruiser. While I wait on some parts to dry or glue together I'm already getting the other cruisers ready. I always start all my builds by painting the bodies and applying any decals needed and cleared coats them. I like to get the body painting and detail out of the way so I can focus on the chassis and engine details and build the kits. (NOTE: I've also prepped, Primer and painted the white for the Old Saybrook CT Cruiser.. Not photographed) Here's what I've done so... Working on building the Trenton NJ Police Dodge Charger: Using Lindberg's Dodge Police Cruiser, I've prepped and Primer the body. Masked out for the White section of the cruiser and applied the white yesterday. Today I removed the masking and tomorrow I'll mask that section to get the model ready for the black paint.
blubaja Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Great job! I did one of these, from the diecast version. The paint on the 1:1 is metallic black. Edited April 30, 2014 by blubaja
TheCat Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Now that the paint is dry, it's time for the masking to come off.... and here's the white paint done.
TheCat Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Great job! I did one of these, from the diecast version. The paint on the 1:1 is metallic black. Thanks Frank for the heads-up and the pictures.
TheCat Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Masked the white section... now it's ready for the black paint.
TheCat Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Painted the Black. After a couple of hours, I removed the masking and here's the finished paint work. Next would be applying the decals. Going to wait a few days for the black paint to dry well. For some reason Testor's black spray color takes between 3 to 5 days to dry.
slusher Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Body paint looks good Felix. I use testors paint and it does take longer to dry. I always waited 2 weeks....
Agent G Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Looking good Felix. When I lived in the midwest I gave every enamel paint job two weeks to cure. G
HondaSan72 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Looking good so far... I remember riding in those a few times. Not the most comfortable rides!!
Danno Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 And Testors silver enamel takes in the neighborhood of 32 years to dry.
English Jules Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Nice. Hope to get a few Lindberg Charger kits sent over in a month or so. Cant wait.
TheCat Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Had to put this build aside for a little bit and work on other projects. But now I'm back on this build.... Here's the latest update... Applied the decals.
TheCat Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Front fender decals. Added the rear window cages. Trenton Police cruisers don't use the bars. In a way this made my replication job easier.
TFchronos Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Very nice paint job and application of decals. Looks awesome!
English Jules Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Where did you get the decals from? I thought fender meant wing in US. I had always thought it meant the bumper but other day i saw some pics and they called the wings fenders. Mines coming along well, apart from the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH NYPD decal sheets i got so is on hold now. Put pics up earlier on another link
Mopar - D Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Felix your decals look super and I like how you did the back side windows. Julian you are correct our fenders are you wings.

Actually I used the incorrect word... It's not Front Fender... actually is called Front Fascia (in the USA). Fenders would be Wings. Here's a picture of the Front Fascia of a real Dodge Charger Felix your decals look super and I like how you did the back side windows. Julian you are correct our fenders are you wings. Thank you very much Dan
English Jules Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 ah thanks, when i heard the term fender bender, i always thought it mean bumpers damaged....good to know though :-)
Johnny1973 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) Charger looks great Felix Edited June 16, 2014 by Johnny1973
TheCat Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 Here's an update... finished the detail on the front fascia... Now to work on the rest of the model... Started the detail work on the engine...
English Jules Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 looks good. I started building the engine, not for the car but for fun, just to learn a little on a area i dont usually do. I looked at the same time, real images as i went along, then noticed a couple of errors that were different so i stopped. I wasnt sure if the kit was wrong, or a slight diff engine version used, i know extra cooling, batt and electric ratings. Love your build, stage by stage im learning new things, esp as im not a car builder normally
Jon Geddes Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I love model police cruisers! Looks excellent so far!
