Harry P. Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Speaking of the Beatles... there was a big special on TV a month or two ago, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles' first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show... a lot of great Beatles covers were performed, with people like Joe Walsh and Dave Grohl and Peter Frampton and Jeff Lynne (ELO) and many others too numerous to mention... and Paul and Ringo enjoying the show... but this is my favorite from that show. John Legend and Alicia Keys (hubba hubba! ) doing "Let It Be." Lousy video quality, but you'll get the idea...
Harry P. Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Or how about the 'Coop covering a Chicago band, The Left Banke. How cool! I never knew he did this.
Craig Irwin Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I always liked this bit of psychedelia better than the Supremes original .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdLRoOYk50o
Craig Irwin Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 (edited) Harry, if you like Dylan covers....... This whole CD (Acid Eaters) is covers of 60's rockers. Edited May 5, 2014 by Craig Irwin
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) Oh MAN what a great thread! I have MANY many examples, and may post some more later, but for now, and Car related I might add, Fear Factory covering Gary Numna's Cars <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/CDcMcBIQ2IM?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Edited May 6, 2014 by Modelbuilder Mark
Harry P. Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Well, I hafta say I like the Byrds' version better... but the Ramones' take on it was pretty cool! I do like the Ramones in general.
Harry P. Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 I always liked this bit of psychedelia better than the Supremes original .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdLRoOYk50o Yep, that's a completely different take on that song!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 How is it that depite using the embed code or the URL, some folks like me end up posting a link, rather than the video?
Harry P. Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 How is it that depite using the embed code or the URL, some folks like me end up posting a link, rather than the video? Good question. I was wondering that myself.
Harry P. Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 There are a lot of good tribute bands out there, but these guys are really good. They're from the Netherlands, so their native language isn't English... but they do a whale of a job covering the Eagles. They're known as the "Dutch Eagles," and if you can get past the lead singer's slight Dutch accent, they do a great job on this. The guitar solos at the end might not be Don Felder and Joe Walsh... but darn close!

Jantrix Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) I'm sorry guys. Those are all good examples, but there is only ONE greatest cover of all time. And this is it. No foolin'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTxuv0w8LnY Edited May 6, 2014 by Jantrix
Harry P. Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Yep, that's a good one! But "Come Together" wasn't totally a Beatles original. Hmmm... I wonder if they ever heard this song?
TFchronos Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I agree Rob. Here's one I found while watching a home made Challenger commercial on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyRcr9H6FaQ
Craig Irwin Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Here's a funny take on a song that's taken far too seriously.
madhorseman Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I always liked this bit of psychedelia better than the Supremes original Hey, they also covered JR Walkers' "Shotgun" I remember 2 of the Fudge members along with Jeff Beck also covered "superstition".
Craig Irwin Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 This gal was 15 when she recorded this. It seems that the future of blues lies with teenage white kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1KBkg_-EZo
madhorseman Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Here's one that used to leave me scratching my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOR71yOHMek But, I did like both.
Harry P. Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 This gal was 15 when she recorded this. It seems that the future of blues lies with teenage white kids. One of my all-time favorite songs. Never heard it done like this! Pretty cool...
Craig Irwin Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 My love of psychedelic music took me to this band a few years back, but everybody covered this song in the 60's. originally by The Leaves, even Jimi Hendrix's version was a cover.
