Kevin44 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) I've only been working on this one here and there now that the weather is getting nicer. This time I tried adding some simple air lines for the brakes and suspension, and some fuel and return lines on the engine. I want to try and do a little weathering to make it look like a nicely maintained working truck. Edited September 2, 2014 by Kevin44
Pavel A. Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Kevin, this is very good work. It is good that you try to make some air lines. Good idea. If I can recommend you next time try to use "fishing line" you can buy it in each thickness in Fisherman store. Than apply some filler and primer (I use Dupli color in a can, it is awesome, the primer gray colour make a great surface on each material). And than colour coat... original vents for lines you can buy at KFS.....but I like your way also. Paul.
Kevin44 Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Thanks Pavel, that is a good idea. I used metal wire for the brake lines because I had some laying around, but it was hard to work with because it's not as flexible.
Pavel A. Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Yes Kevin, that I mean it's problem of this metal wire. Not flexible.
Jim B Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Wow! That's some pretty severe weathering on the Cummins! Looks like a Detroit Diesel!
Kevin44 Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 lol she has a few more miles on than I had originally intended.
Pavel A. Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Good work Kevin. My eyes will be on your progress...
Kevin44 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks Pavel. I also painted the frame yesterday, now it needs some weathering as well.
Pavel A. Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 It will be very interessant. Try only light weathering on the frame. Some dark wash round the nuts and bolts....and little bit oil stain (good is tamiya weathering set for this work). Yeah, nice colour.
kilrathy10 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Oh, yeah....That's a good looking engine.....Nice work on the frame, too.....
Kostas Parchas Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Green frame?, not that comon but it is nice for sure. Kostas. Edited May 16, 2014 by Kostas Parchas
Kevin44 Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 Haven't done much more, but I decided to repainted the engine because I thought the weathering was overdone. I experimented with some baking soda to get a little texture in the rust this time.
Kevin44 Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) Got her on her own ten feet today lol. Also I got a sudden urge to build a 352 a few weeks ago, so I've been doing both trucks at the same time. Edited August 14, 2014 by Kevin44
Jim B Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 The engine looks nice. Just the right amout of rust.
tbill Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 coming along nice, you're going to have a good looking couple of trucks when you're done.
