The Modeling Hermit Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Here at Otto Ray Sing Classic Model Car Sales, our truck drivers are just as knowledgeable as the rest of the staff when it comes to classic cars and their value, and they have to have a love for classic cars too. Being out on the road gives them opportunities to scout out cars which makes them quite valuable to us. Generally they report back to the shop and somebody is sent out to check the vehicle out further. They are given agency to make a purchase if conditions warrant it, and in this case the conditions were warranted. Sippie "Widow Woman" Wallace, one of our drivers, was returning from a run and stopped for fuel at a small Truck Stop. While she was pumping fuel this 62 Buick Electra 225 convertible drove in with a for sale sign in the window, and a price marked at $6,500.00. She did a little talking, a lot of smiling, and bought the owners lunch, and the car changed hands for a lot less money than that, and that car got loaded on the trailer. Here she's showing her "catch" to Elias, our sales rep and appraiser. She's going to get a substantial finder's fee for this one.
Danno Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Nice car! But, Sippie needs to slippy a little black wash into those wheels to make the spokes really speak!!
Harry P. Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Love the colors, love the wire wheels, and Dan is right... they are screaming out for a black wash. They will look so much better.
cartpix Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Sippie did good. Beautiful build. I agree about the black wash.
The Modeling Hermit Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 You're right about the wheels. I wasn't detailing like that back when I built this car, and it's been around so long that I don't even notice anymore. I should go back through all my old kits and do some detailing, but that usually opens a can of worms and ends up a full restoration.
om617 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 That is one classy ride, great build. More pictures would not hurt lol
charlie8575 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Nice, Doug. What did you use for the color? And yes, a blackwash on the wheels would make it look really great indeed. Charlie Larkin
The Modeling Hermit Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Sorry Charlie. I built this one when I was a kid and don't remember much about it. It's sprayed, so it must have been about 68 or 69 that I built it because that's sbout when I started using spray paints on my models. I do think that I will go ahead and do the wheel backwash on it.

Wow. It's held up very well. Good work indeed. Charlie Larkin
