FASTBACK340 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I needed a new car with good fuel mileage, but this is what I have to work with. 2013 Honda FIT Sport. Has a 100 miles on it, it needed to be customized. It's Black with a Black interior. The windows will be tinted this week and I'm going to talk with the painter at my shop about some subtle ghost-flames on the nose…… and all the emblems will be removed or Black epoxy-paint. With only 117 HP I joked about a 75 shot of nitrous to level the playing field. The Wife said "no".
1972coronet Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I like how N.Y. has returned to a classy-style license plate design ! Not exactly the orange / blue gems of the 70's( ) but pretty close to perfection .
DonW Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Sell it and buy a 12 year old BMW 3 series and put the left over wad of cash in the bank!
Guest Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Do anything but ghost flames! If it were mine, the first order would be new wheels and tires (black or gun metal wheels (bigger, wider) and wider lower profile tires). Maybe lower it about 3 inches. Paint wise, I would pick a body line or curve on the body and spray clear flat or satin from that point down.
FASTBACK340 Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Thinking of Plasti-dipping the alloys Black. Don't really like the satin look. I've owned too many primered or roached-out beaters to make a new car look old on purpose. I joked about a set of Lime Green wheels and a trash-can exhaust tip. And stickers…. Plenty of stickers angled on the left side of the rear window. And a tow hook. Nothing says my car is badd-ass like a tow hook….. I'm going to throw it out to my co-workers tomorrow and get ideas.
Mike_G Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) I've got a Monza exhaust tip I took off a turbocharged Fiesta you can have- it's big enough to stuff a Texas ruby-sweet grapefruit in. Edited May 11, 2014 by Mike_G
cobraman Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Those cars are pretty cool little rides on their own. I would forgo the flames ( just don't think they" fit "the cars style ). Swap the wheels and tires ( after you wear out those or use as a trade in ) and then some tastefull pinstriping and call it done. Lowering may make it look better but messes up the ride IMO. I have a 2004 Mustang GT which had been lowered by the dealer before I bought it ( it was new ) and it looks good but rides rough and you have to watch every driveway and dip in the road plus the speed bumps they have in some shopping centers. It's a pain, again just my opinion.
FASTBACK340 Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 I commute almost 60 miles a day, morning drive being mostly 50-75 MPH, coming home I might hit 50…. I need comfort, so lowering is out. As much as I'd like to throw some meaty sneakers & rims on this thing, my financial advisor (the same person whom doesn't approve of nitrous…) says to forget about doing anything of the sort. And again, low profile tires don't work in Queens, or pretty much anywhere in the city. Our roads are horrible. That's why the Barracuda has steelies and the Centerlines are for sale. I ran it to rehearsal last night: 3 guitar cases, two small practice amps, and a powered vocal monitor, plus a case of dog food. Could have swallowed the same amount once more…. My biggest concern is the fuel consumption. The Maxima was costing me about $340 a month for gas……

FASTBACK340 Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Sell it and buy a 12 year old BMW 3 series and put the left over wad of cash in the bank! I had found a beautiful Aspen wagon with a 360-auto-A/C-power steering, etc…. Gorgeous car. Wife said "no more used cars, especially special-interest cars" as daily drivers. Besides, if it (unlikely) blows-up, someone else fixes it.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) ... plus a case of dog food. Could have swallowed the same amount once more… Man, you must really like dog food. Just kidding... I've liked the Honda Fit looks since I first saw one. Neat little car. Maybe an anti-glare hood and big red rising-sun meatballs on the doors? Edited May 11, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
Craig Irwin Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 It's a new Honda, leave it alone and just drive it.
