The Henderson Executive Airport is just a stones throw from my place. It currently hangers a F6F-5, F4U-4, and various other radial engined beauties. What a trip!

Agree on the radial engines. Not many left but I love working with the Neptunes, two 18 cylinder Wright 3350 radial engines each providing 3700 hp. The sound they make is felt almost as much as heard.

Shot this in 2007 on the Zaca fire outside of Santa Barbara. Sadly this aircraft was lost with the crew about a year later.

A V8 with a big cam at idle with a smell of racing fuel in the air. Second was the de Havilland Beaver that took us fishing in Canada. We flew out of Cochrane Ont . In a plane like this.

The sound of a 5.0 Fox Mustang hooked me as a teenager when I got my '87, before that when I heard a police LX 5.0 up close in '85-86. Also enjoyed the sound of my Dad's '69 Mustang (351W), my brother's '65 GTO, '68 Camaro SS 396, '74 Firebird 400..

The cars I've had since the 5.0 have been more of the smoother, quieter sounding variety..BMW E36 M3, Cadillac STS, etc..

Perhaps the most incredible startup and rev sounds I've heard was when I was standing next to a '66 Ford GT40 427 starting up at the Copper State 1000 start a few years ago, and Michael Schumacher's '01 Ferrari F1 car starting up (I was standing about 2 feet away when it was started outside at Barrett-Jackson this past January..)
