jrherald420 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 NOT!!!!!!! lol I had wanted to build this kit for years but never wanted to spend the money on this silly car. Well our club's movie car challenge was extended for another month due to only 3 people getting something built. So with a whopping 3 weeks to build something i bought this thinking i could build something nice and quick.......what a mistake that was. The kit is pretty bad, lots of bad fitting parts and body parts being over 3/8 of an inch of even being close to not fitting! The chrome is thick and the mounting points are huge, just a really old mold with no repairs. Top notch stuff!! lol The tires are aftermarket ones from AMT/ Round 2, they are nice and were the exact same ones that came in the kit but no printing on the kit tires. Just paint, embossing powder for the carpet, some BMF and some scale magzines and a do not touch card on the blower, total build time was 2 1/2 weeks. Enough talk, time for crappy cell phone pictures!!!! 20140519_151022 by jrherald420, on Flickr 20140516_102539 by jrherald420, on Flickr 20140516_102746 by jrherald420, on Flickr 20140516_102827 by jrherald420, on Flickr
jrherald420 Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 Thanks guys. 8 days of this build was getting the front lower and rear lower valances to fit, lots of filling with CA and accelerator. The grill and headlight assembly took several hours of filling, sanding, fitting and more filling. The interior tub is a god awful fit. Had to use lots of styrene filler and lots of sanding to get it to sit as poorly as it does now. Best way to describe this build is lipstick on a pig!! lol
jrherald420 Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 Thank you, AustinT can tell to how many times i called him before smashing it! lol
1930fordpickup Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 It may have tried your sanity , but it was worth it. Looks great .
jrherald420 Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Thanks Daniel. I would love to trade with you again but my wife and I are buying our first house so every penny counts right now. Maybe in a few months we can get something going.
Danno Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Turned out well, despite the challenges it threw at you.
jrherald420 Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Thanks, its Model Masters Italian Red over Tamiya fine white primer. It really does have some pop to it in the light.
