The Creative Explorer Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I've been a couple of years to the warehouse/HQ of Revell in Germany and loved the X-shop. I managed to buy me a few American kits over there with I believe 25% discount on the RSP. The Dutch IPMS has an excursion to Revell again and I figured to go with them this year again, it is always nice to see what new stuff will come out, the technical sides of a mold and such. But also to go back to Department X and X-shop I think I am going to make a shopping list of parts that I need for projects...
English Jules Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 ah cool. I have spent a lot of time in Germany, and NL. Is there a model car following in mainland Europe?
The Creative Explorer Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 Naah, not really. The US scene is way bigger. Over here, it is overshadowed by airplanes and military. But I believe it is somewhat global.
PowerPlant Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Where exactly is this headquarters located, and is it open to general public or only for prearranged group visits?
The Creative Explorer Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 I don't think the tour itself is open for general public, only prearranged. But they are nice people over there, so just email them. The X-shop is open during normal business hours, unfortunately a bit far away, otherwise I would be poor by now. I'll update with the purchases on saturday
English Jules Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 look forward to see what you buy. I know where they are but i always fill my car with German/Cz beer and vodka, so no room for kits :-(
PowerPlant Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the reply, but I would still like to know where exactly the "x-shop", as you call it, and headquarters are located I looked, but I could not find any info online... Edited May 22, 2014 by PowerPlant
Brett Barrow Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Thanks for the reply, but I would still like to know where exactly the "x-shop", as you call it, and headquarters are located I looked, but I could not find any info online... robertw Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 You've done some very nice work and your photographs of it are very creative. Well done.
The Creative Explorer Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 You've done some very nice work and your photographs of it are very creative. Well done. I guessed you missed your target here Robert @Matija, sorry, I missed that. Brett luckily found it already. The info was right on the frontpage of www.revell.de
Brizio Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 That's a great opportunity! Have fun and I will wait for pics.
The Creative Explorer Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) Well, I'm back I got back on friday already, but was busy on saturday, so didn't had time to post until now. Unfortunately, I have no pics whatsoever, we were asked if we already visited the Revell plant before and I did, so we were sent directly to the store and it was mayhem, shelfs got raided and parts were flying everywhere, no kidding. I came home with this bunch: I also got myself 3 bags of parts, mostly truck and car. And a whole lot of decals plenty of pinstriping there The Trabant was a gift from Revell to us, unfortunately/luckily, I received that very kit 1 day before my trip to Germany as a reviewmodel for the IPMS. So, now I got 2 of 'em and I can build one box-stock and have fun with the other one. Edited May 25, 2014 by The Creative Explorer
The Creative Explorer Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 I'm glad I had the van with me, it doesn't like much in the pictures, but all those kits combined is a lot of space!
English Jules Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I guess they spoke English as i guess they dont know Dutch. I had planned on going around Europe this summer, late on but i doubt it now. So miss not living in Germany. I do speak once a year to a big boss, who comes over to the big model show here, gives me a chance to keep up with my German
The Creative Explorer Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Nope, nothing but German and now and then a word of Dutch for the fun of it.
Stuntman Mike Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Nope, nothing but German and now and then a word of Dutch for the fun of it. I think that´s because the two languages have some similar words. I´m probably the luckiest off all of us. The headquarter is closer to me than the next hobby shop. Just a ten minute ride with the car. I´m a frequent visitor and it´s a great way to gather cheap models for new builds or just to fill up the parts box.
English Jules Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 yeah i noticed simularites between them. I speak to people in the IMPS Deutschland still.
sjordan2 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Talk to them about scrapping their original issues of the 1/12 Mercedes Gullwing and Ferrari 275 GTB, and starting over in 1/12 or 1/8. My Holy Grails.
