crazyjim Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Tomorrow is Memorial Day in the USA. Please take a moment to remember all the valiant Americans whose lives were taken in defense of freedom.
disabled modeler Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Amen Jim.... we should never forget our brothers and sisters that have given the ultimate sacrifice for us all...they are our heroes and heroins.
Chris White Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Here in Canada, we thank our American brothers, both here and lost, for their sacrifice and commitment to our protect our way of life.
crazyjim Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 And a couple Vietnam Veterans out of Detroit built the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Windsor, Ontario, Chris.
Chris White Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 and there are many examples of this on both sides of the boarder, hence my respect and appreciation
High octane Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 It IS a very important day and people should also "fly da flag" just like they do on the 4th of July. Before Memorial Day became a "Monday holiday" it was always on May 30th as my late brother was born on that day as well.
Harry P. Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Anyone who has served in the military in actual combat has more "spherical objects" than I can ever hope to have.
cobraman Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 A lot of us including myself I must admit forget what this day is really about. It's the day we BBQ and or have a party without much thought about why we have this day. It is much more than just a day off for most of us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who served and to the families of those who gave their lives. We owe you more than we could ever repay.

slusher Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 My favorite Marine and veteran our minister died right before Thanksgiving. I have so much respect for active service men and veterans because I learned so much from him as a friend.
charlie8575 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 While over for dinner, I had to explain to my friend's (much younger) wife the whole significance of Memorial Day, and why it started as "Decoration Day" and why my parents took most of the day not only remembering our veterans (a large number in my family, dating back to the Revolution and War of 1812- on both sides of the fight, on my dad's side of the family,) but our family also gone before us. This, despite her husband having been in the Navy, enlisting right before we graduated high school in 1993. We must never forget the reason we pay homage to all our military personnel- active and retired, living and dead. For without them, America would not exist, and most assuredly if it did, it would be far worse. Thank you to each of you who have served who are here with us. And prayers for grants of eternal peace to those not. Charlie Larkin
