Dale W. Verts Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I'm building cars for several of my friends- their "dream-rod" if they could own one. Luckily my friends are not too picky! But I figured this was a good way to build up my talents. This '68 Roadrunner is out-of-box except for a tire change to 50's and 70's instead of the 60's that came with the kit. This thing is not quite complete but it just worked out that I put it on the site now. I'm gonna do a light wash to dull the chrome, and the front running lights are lacking color. Still, this was fun. One down, six to go. I learn every time I work on one of these things, for sure. Thanks for lookin'. Dale
Harry P. Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 It would look a whole lot more realistic if you foiled the window trim.
Dale W. Verts Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 I know Harry. Just got my first BMF in today... But this guy's a FRIEND of mine! Dale
TooOld Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Nice work Dale ! Learning and improving your skills is a big part of this hobby . Do a little research on applying BMF and go for it on your next model !
Funkster Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 nce model, and some info for you. mopars are painted body color under the hood (engine compartment).
Dale W. Verts Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Yep, I knew that. But these builds are not supposed to be replicas- they're exactly what my buddies want, or at least as close as I can get them. This Roadrunner is mimicking a car my buddy had in the mid-70's and wishes he had back. The interior is also red & white- the same as Sarges' was. Dale
Danno Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Was your buddy's dream car supposed to be pigeon-toed, too? Seriously, you should slap his license plate on it and foil it. You'll be surprised the huge difference those two little steps will make! Keep on keepin' on. As one guy on the board says, every model is practice for the next one.
Dale W. Verts Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Lookin' for license plates. And this kit comes with spindled and turnable wheels, but no tie-rod... He said just leave it alone. Okay- I'll make it my first foil project. But I'm holdin' ya'll responsible. Well, probably not. Dale
Dale W. Verts Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) I'm off-the-hook on the BMF. Sarge says he wants it the way it is. Luckiliy I hadn't popped the glass yet. My next one on the bench is a buddy's '67 GTO. It has to have the foil because of the rockers, so I watched Cranky and Donn Yost last night. Man oh man. A little more study and I'll give her a whirl. Thanks for the push Harry. Dale Edited June 5, 2014 by Dale W. Verts
Brett Barrow Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Foil's nothing to be scared of. Just follow BMF's instructions and keep plenty of fresh X-Acto blades at hand. You'll ruin a bunch at first, but that's just the way it goes for everybody. Peel it off and try again, you'll be a foil pro in no time!
