foosh Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Hey Terry, super job so far, looks really good! Keep up the good work.
Superpeterbilt Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Got a little more done to the front bumper, several coats of primer on the cab and about 2 hours of sanding, more frame bolts, and added air tanks. I shortened a light bar from the Pete Wrecker kit for the headache rack. Mr. Oscar checking out the progress. Edited August 3, 2014 by Superpeterbilt
Tesla Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Happy to say that I'm learning a lot from this build. The detailing is fantastic! Looks like you have Mr. Oscar's approval
tbill Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Terry, fantastic work. that is one tough looking rig! great details as well, keep it up
Superpeterbilt Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Small update, I spent the day reworking some things on the trailers. The 5 axle suspension was just mocked up, so I got that built out most of the way. I completely tore the jeep down and reshaped it, and rebuilt it. I also think Im going to just leave it as a tandem instead of a tri axle. Im not really basing the design on anything, Im just working out of my head. I literally just sketched a shape on sheet styrene and cut it out. So that I reshaped it and am satisfied with it, I can work on getting it finished. It doesnt look like much, but it was a lot of rebuilding.
Petetrucker07 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Lookin good. Looks like its gonna need its own shelf when its done
Superpeterbilt Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Small update: I made a specialized bender to make my exhaust. I tested it out on the first set for the Brockway. Its not perfect, but the bender worked ok. Im going to remake the driver side pipe. Im not sure if I want to keep the curved tips or go with straights. I dremeled out the grill to put in some PE mesh. More to come
Superpeterbilt Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 I modified and installed a PTO from a diecast truck and a pillow block bearing. Heres a shot of the gear and offset shaft mounted under the winch cradle in two pillow blocks. Thix will be connected by chain to the shaft under the truck. Construction on the jeep is done except for brakes. I robbed a set of landing gear grom the Italeri dump trailer. I was going to scratch a set, but time is crunching.
borz666 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Superb work, also FYI I have money waiting as soon as you cast that cab!!!!
Tesla Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Terry the detailing is unbelievable! Keep up the great work
Petetrucker07 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 This is lookin really good. The stacks look good short, but i dont which would be better miter or curve. The curve looks good but i think miter cut would look good too. Keep up the awesome work Terry!!
Superpeterbilt Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 I got the final pieces on the chassis. The drive shafts, air lines, mud flap mounts, and interior tub.Final sanding completed, I got some color on the chassis.
TRaymo Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Tough lookin truck. I sure wouldn't want to be behind it on any sort of grade with that N/A Cummins. Driver would be in the basement in a hurry
Superpeterbilt Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 After a ton of OCD sanding, I finally got some color on the cab.
Superpeterbilt Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Heres a little close-up of the oscillating 5th wheel I built for it.
Kostas Parchas Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Great work so far, keep it coming!!! Kostas.
