Mopar - D Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Added the side stripes and clear coated also sprayed the interior.
Mr. Moparman Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Awesome progress! Personally, I would have painted the vinyl top before doing the decals, but that's just me.
Mopar - D Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Brandon I wanted the decals on before I clear coated other wise yea I would of held off with the decals.
Mopar - D Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 My tires arrived today and I did some more work on the chassis and added flocking in the interior. My clear coat has a yellow tint to it and is drying slow so I hoping that it will clear up
slusher Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Real nice Dan, is the top and interior going to be the same color????
Mopar - D Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 The they only made black or white tops so I'm going with a black top.
microwheel Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Nicely done so far. Looking forward to more.
slusher Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 The they only made black or white tops so I'm going with a black top. Nice to know, I didn't remember....Thanks
ChrisPflug Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Actually the vinyl tops were also offered in green and Gator Grain for '70- although definitely not "recommended combinations" with black side stripes and burnt orange interior
freakshow12 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 What did you use for the burnt orange interior?
Mr. Moparman Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Very nice. I am thinking of building a Challenger for my collection aswell.
Mopar - D Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Thanks for the comments on my build. Fred I used model masters leather and some Hemi orange mixed together. I brushed the seats to get the distressed leather look and air brushed the rest. Chris your correct they did offer green and Gator Grain vinyl tops in 70.
freakshow12 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 That's pretty nice. Is the carpet really that red?
Ron Hamilton Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I have been following this one since you started it. I have had one of these bodies for several years, but have yet to do it as I have several projects in mind. When I was a kid, a friend of mines sister's boyfriend had a B5 Blue/White Vinyl Roof/ Medium Blue Interior Challenger SE back in 1970. It was not a R/T, but I thought it was a cool car never the less. Looking at what you have here, there is a lot of work to be done to get these looking right. You have a lot of nice work going on there, and I can not wait to see it finished.
my80malibu Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Back on the bench have been working on the body getting the panel lines cleaned up and the front and back lower valances installed. Also started priming the body. Painted the engine and received my PE parts. Should have more progress later tonight and tomorrow morning. I'm going with a black shaker and rear deck spoiler on this one. It kinda Sucks that the PE Door handles for this, and the 71 Hemi Cuda are only for one side. It looks like it could be easy to have that corrected, Instead of having to BMF the handles. Great progress so far on this car, it is really shaping up to be a looker.
Mopar - D Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Garbriel They included the correct PE handles I just didn't include them in the picture.
Mopar - D Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Thanks Ron I found this Challenger on the internet It's has a 383 in it
Mopar - D Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Fred the camera makes it look brighter than what it is.
