Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Finally decided to start work on this kit. I was originally planning to do a custom street truck with it, but since walmart has quite a few of these, I'm gonna grab another one. So far I've got a rolling chassis, and the plow assembled... And surprisingly it fits right up to the front frame rails with no issues... This is gonna be weathered, and I'll be posting an update here tonight or tomorrow... Thanks for looking and comments good or bad always welcomed...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Thanks... From the Revell 84 GMC pickup...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Thanks Mike... I got a mockup with the bed sides...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 I have the bed assembled, and the cancer areas grinded out. I removed one of the wood planks from the bed floor, and I'm throwing a tool box in the bed and a flashing dome light up top...
MikeBoyle Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Can't wait to see how you weather this one out.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Can't wait to see how you weather this one out. Thanks man... I can't either... Was gonna primer the chassis up and start painting that, but it's been raining off and on today and now it's looking like it's going to storm... I can at least work on the motor though...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Got the engine started and replaced the plastic driveshaft with aluminum...
Darren B Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 James I am loving what you are doing to this bad boy will be following with great interest. Love it keep it up.
TooOld Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Looks pretty cool James ! This is one of my favorite truck kits and I like where you're headed with this one . The missing board is a great idea !
Matt T. Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Looking good so far, James! Don't forget some ballast in that bed. Sandbags, cinder blocks, maybe an oliy old engine? I've seen all of those in 1:1s used up here in the snow belt!
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Thsnks Matt... I was thinkin some chains, and some other stuff in the bed would be a great added touch... An old used motor in the bed would be perfect...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Managed to get the chassis painted in between rain showers... I'll add some details to it...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 Got the chassis done other than the engine and driveshaft ...
Jim B Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Nice job on the frame. What did you use to "rust" it?
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 Thanks guys... James, I used an acrylic burnt sienna wash...
