guitarsam326 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 ok fellas, I haven't updated in a while because really there isn't anything that's been update worthy, but I'm in the painting stages and i'm working on a scratch built front bumper and I've hit a wall. I like where its going but it needs something. I think it needs some more diamond plate below the tubing or something. maybe you guys have seen something similar to what i'm going for? thanks for the help in advance!
Superpeterbilt Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Yeah Sam, I would add some .312/.375 styrene strip underneath tracing the shape of the bumper.
olsbooks Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 This thing is shaping up well! Nice job on the front extension!
guitarsam326 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 Thanks fellas, I hope to have this mammoth done by Nov. 1st for my model club show, but that is yet to be seen. I also tried Terry's suggestion on the front bumper and I think it turned out pretty good, maybe I'll post some pics of it tomorrow.
guitarsam326 Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 I've made a little more progress, paint has been flying due to my new airbrush which I absolutely love! I need a little input, my color choices are out there, I agree, but I'm not sure about my front bumper, should it be white (to match the mixer body) or should it be blue to match the cab and frame? secondly, I was thinking about putting diagonal stripes like I put on the front bumper of my Diamond Reo, on the front of the bumper, and I was gonna put orange stripes on a white bumper, but i'm not sure. any and all suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
72 Charger Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Looks great so far Sam .Colors look good too . i would do the stripes on the bumper .Maybe blue and orange would work ok
guitarsam326 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Here's a few more update pics, just a little paint and weathering. decided against the stripes on the bumper (for now). Model contest today wont happen but the logger is the backup so its all good!
Trucker Al Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Wow! love the truck so far! cant wait for the final product! Alex
gotnitro? Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 looking good so far !! The airlines on your axles and frame really bring the model to life. The greasy handprints on the frame and foot traffic in the cab are very well executed
guitarsam326 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Thanks for the kudos guys, I'm new at the whole weathering bit, but I'm learning!
guitarsam326 Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 just a small update, got some more plumbing, wiring, and a little interior work done. not sure about the accuracy of all the plumbing ( any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!), but it does the job.
jeffbrad Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Sweet with that Detroit. My brother in law worked for ready mix operation in Ohio in the 80's and they had a bunch of those Fords with the 3208T Cats. They were rolling roadblocks!
Chu Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Now I know were I'm gona use the three detroit engine that I have!!! Great Ford Great built!!
