I decided to do another Galaxie, and since I wanted to do a ' 65 to replicate the car of a fella I used to work with, I figured there's no time like the present. His car was not an XL, but it was gold with a black vinyl roof. So even though I'm doing this box stock, I'm going to use the same color scheme. Here's the body with the paint and clear on it, as well as the vinyl roof, added today.

More to come!

Here's the paint I used. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth it went on. Beautiful stuff!

Did you use a primer or barrier (sealer) first? Or can you just shoot the paint on over bare plastic? Thanks for any help, as painting is an area where I need the most improvement. Tom

You're right, Wayne. That is indeed two inch masking tape, burnished down and trimmed, then painted with a few light coats of Duplicolor black primer.

Tulio, the car I'm trying to replicate did indeed have a gold interior!

Thomas, I used both Duplicolor grey primer and sealer, as I always do. I felt like I was taking enough of a gamble with the paint, and wasn't about to test Krylon's "theory" that you don't need to use primer.

I always liked the mid 60's ford galaxies. My uncle had a couple of them he bought new back in the day. Your build is looking good. I'll be following along with ya for sure.

SFD, how is the Galaxie going? Stalled or burning rubber?

Well, now that I'm working on it again, I'd call it "smellyspeed".

Got the foil done this weekend, but still have to black wash some of the trim. Last shot is the painted interior.

I have used Krylon paint in the past with out primer/sealer, no ill effects! I did it as a test on a 53 f100, was perfect, no problems. I was in a hurry...I know better, BUT!

Just a test fit, to check things out. I added a second set of spacers under the rear springs, to give the rear an ever so slight rake. The body's done except for the glass, and the chassis as well. Now, on to the interior!
