Roadrunner Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I have an already started 1:48 Hasegawa Ju 87G-2, but have no earthly idea when (if ever) I'll be finishing it. Yours looks pretty cool. I have an Africa scheme in mind as well, for the 1:32 Revell Ju 88A-4, whenever I get around to that.
mustang1989 Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 I've seen some good builds come out of Revells Ju-88. Man those guys are really getting their act together with all this new tool stuff as of late. I don't, however , remember hearing anything good about the accuracy of the Ju-87 G-2. I have a G-2 but its the old Monogram kit, nuff said about that. lol
Roadrunner Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Well, I'm not much of an accuracy freak (nothing wrong with that, it's just not usually a big deal to me), but the finished models I've seen, certainly look the part, and that's almost always good enough for me. Generally speaking, I think it's hard to go wrong with any of the later 1:48 Hasegawa releases. Hasegawa 1:48 Ju 87G-2
mustang1989 Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 Man those G-2's do look Bad A!! There's just something about a couple of Flak cannons on those that gives 'em that true sinister look!!
Roadrunner Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Agreed, and those cannons inflicted some wicked damage.
mustang1989 Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 I've seen it before but could watch this a thousand times!!! Totally bad A!
Chuck Most Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Nice! I've got the 1:24 Airfix version kicking around somewhere, I'm hoping it'l turn out half as nice as yours did.
atomicholiday Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 That video is awesome... Serious firepower.
mustang1989 Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Nice! I've got the 1:24 Airfix version kicking around somewhere, I'm hoping it'l turn out half as nice as yours did. Lookin' forward to seeing that sometime Chuck! Jeremy: You're right about that! Serious firepower right there!
mustang1989 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 I took the ol' bird to the Austin Capitol Classic this last weekend and it fared pretty good bringin' home a 2nd place award..........
Agent G Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Congratulations! That is a stellar build. I really enjoyed watching you work on this one.In all honesty I believe there were two colors schemes for the snake. Red and tan. The old B/W film used by the Germans was quite sensitive, especially in the red spectrum. Red, red brown, rust, even pink, etc all came out looking darker than the other colors. For that reason alone I believe there were two different color snakes. Besides, they're both bad @ss.G
mustang1989 Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 'Preciate it Wayne and Kevin. I'd like to do one of the tan snaked birds at some point down the road.
Codi Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Congrats Joe on the awards for your two plane builds. Military modelers are truly insane and your awards speak to their quality v. the competition. The reference pics on your stuka are interesting, I've not seen the tan serpent ones before....you've done your research that's obvious. Cheers and look forward to your next thread / build. Tim
Harry P. Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Congratulations on your win. But Second Place? Gee, I'd love to see the model that beat it!
mustang1989 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 Tim: Thank you for your comments. I'd been wanting to build that bird for around 17 years before I took this one on. I did all kinds of research on it before hand.Harry: Thanks bud. I got beat by a pretty fair lookin' 109 B and this Stuka actually beat my all opened up Fw190 D-9. That was weird.Kenneth: Thank you sir. Hopefully I'll have that dang F-100 finished in time for the Feb show. lol

I was well under way with a 1:32 scale F-100D and ZEL launcher, but I made some errors on the ZEL trailer, so have to begin again. I was fortunate to get some quite excellent photos from Boeing, of the ZEL trailer, and that's when I discovered my errors.

bismarck Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Kevin, that gun camera footage you posted was absolutely hair raising. COOL!!! Edited October 30, 2015 by bismarck
mustang1989 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 That's for sure. Those twin 37 mils were just brutal.
bismarck Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 On the audio, you can hear the thump of the weapons firing, then on HECK of a muzzle blast. Lord help anyone on the receiving end of those guns!!
Roadrunner Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Yep, cool footage. They certainly wreaked havoc on armor and ships.
