BKcustoms Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Has anyone purchased 3D printed turbos from TDR? I'm thinking about getting a set for my pro mod Camaro and I was wondering if anyone had some pictures to show how big they are. Thanks Billy
Lownslow Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 i plan on buying some but itll be a while before i post them
DaytonaTim Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hey guys, Tim from TDR here. Just click on this link and you will be taken to the turbo section of our website catalog. At the top of the page you will see a dimensioned picture of the tubos we offer. click on the small pic and it will expand to a large pic where you can see all the dimensions of the turbos we sell. You will just have to divide them by the scale you are working in. https://sites.google.com/site/tdrhtmllearn/home/engine-shop/generic-engine-components/turbo-chargers Lastly, we are starting a major push to get our parts down into the 1/25 scale size. The printing technology is starting to let us get down there now. I currently pushing the BBC kits down into the small scales, check them out when you get the time. look for us on Facebook. Thanks Tim TDR Innovations
LDO Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I don't know what scale your Pro/Mod Camaro is, but I bought a pair of TDR turbos sized for a 1/6 motorcycle and they look great
W-409 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I agree that these turbos are fantastic! I bought a set for my Pro Mod Mustang project (That got kinda stalled and it will probably end up being something else than a Pro Modified). The turbos look very good and the texture that always is in 3D parts is very minimal. I highly recommend these parts. I bought mine from Ted's Modeling Marketplace. Ted is a very nice guy to deal with. http://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/turbo-chargers-all-sizes/
BKcustoms Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Thanks for the info guys! I just ordered a pair of the 2 inch turbos, I'll post some pictures when they arrive.
Devilsnake98 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Sweet please do. I'd love to see some pics for reference along side an 1/25 v8 engine.
blackandwhite Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 any chance of an actual turbo picture. Im curious was the 2" 1/24 turbos look like
Lownslow Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 given my experience with shapeways and the material, you will not be dissappointed.
Bonekrosha Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 They have amazing stuff. The ones I got were 1/16th and just incredible detail. I've got to get a couple more for a twin turbo 1/16th Kenworth project.
om617 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Lastly, we are starting a major push to get our parts down into the 1/25 scale size. This is great news
MeatMan Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 There has been some reference to Gibson engines being slightly larger than scale, thus a turbo of the next size is required to make it look scale. Anyone experience that?
Quick GMC Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I bought some 2 weeks ago. I forget what size I'll have to check. Very little cleanup needed. I haven't done anything with them yet but they look very nice. I think I bought the 2.5" turbos. I got them for the Nissan r390gt1 kit but they are way too big. They would be good as huge turbos on a small block or medium turbos on a big block. I would recommend them
blackandwhite Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Any pictures next to a 1/24 or 1/25 by chance
MeatMan Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Here is a comparison from another thread. I hope this shows. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83896#entry1088941
blackandwhite Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 appreciate the engine pic, but i was hoping for the turbo pictures
Quick GMC Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Here are the pics I have right now. I haven't done anything with them yet. They look a little rough in the pictures, but they should clean up nicely, just as good or better than a resin casting. The texture is perfect for the casted finish.
