Harry P. Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Dead at 96. Is he #3? Robin Williams Lauren Bacall Don Pardo?
slusher Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I was just reading the article and thought is he number 3.
southpier Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I'm sure they'll be another along any day now
Harry P. Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Then we'll have to start a new three...
Lunajammer Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) Celebs of one caliber or another die all the time. That's why they have such a long memorial on the Academy Awards show. How come everyone stops at three when maybe there's 4, or 24? If you hold your breath long enough at 2, you can be pretty sure #3 will eventually show up. I know the count is done with a wink of an eye, but here's an excellent NY Times article on the statistical reality of celeb death counts. Link. Sad about Don Pardo. Such a revered broadcasting career. He had kind of a cult following as an announcer for NBC among those of us in radio over the years. Edited August 19, 2014 by Lunajammer
madhorseman Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Hey guys, I think that Ray was correct when he mentioned James Garner in his post from August 13th,. So i think that he was # 1 of the 3.
Harry P. Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 I read once where Don Pardo did his SNL intros live every Saturday night... but on those occasions when he was unavailable for whatever reason, they actually used a Don Pardo impersonator to do the intros. I am a huge SNL fan... since day one. And I have often noticed that the intros sounded a bit "odd".... maybe those were the times they used a Don Pardo impersonator? And who will do the intros this fall? Should be interesting to see who they pick.
Petetrucker07 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) I heard George Tekai is thinkin of putting his name in the hat. Edited August 19, 2014 by Petetrucker07
madhorseman Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 How about James Earl Jones?..."This, is Saturday Night". In his CNN voice.
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 How about James Earl Jones?..."This, is Saturday Night". In his CNN voice. Or his Darth Vader voice...
Tom Geiger Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) Dead at 96. Is he #3? Robin Williams Lauren Bacall Don Pardo? What about James Garner? Unless he got better. Edited August 23, 2014 by Tom Geiger
