iBorg Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 For insurance purposes I need a reasonable price for various bagged kits. What's a fair price per bagged kit? Some of these are common while others date to the late 60's. Thanks, Mike
unclescott58 Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 What are the kits? What kind of shape and how complete are they? Bagged? Where are the boxes? Are they built? Or unbuilt? We need more information. Scott
Daddyfink Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Common I would go $5 or $10 and the Sixties I would place in the $30 to $40 range, depending on rarity.
iBorg Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 They're really a mixed collection. Some are rather rare (Bronson Harley, Mannix car) while some are Nascar T-birds. I wish I had been able to make a good list of each and every kit but when you're sorting through a hundred kits, you don't have time. You take your best shot and hope its fair.
jbwelda Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I would say 5 to 10 each, but for all, would be fair. if its for insurance your premium is going to be based in part on declared value, and you are going to reach diminishing returns pretty quickly. so especially for unboxed kits, on average 5 to 10 per. jb
ChrisBcritter Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Check the sold listings on eBay for a seller named blzzzfn - he's been selling off a lot of unboxed older kits over the last several months. He says he got hold a collection of several thousand models, and many of them had had their boxes thrown away and were put in bags to save space. You might find some matches in his sold lots.
iBorg Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 Thanks for the suggestions..... My insurance adjuster is fine with me using eBay as a price guide.
