Mike_G Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I am not really familiar with much of current music. +1 I haven't listened to the radio in ages
Harry P. Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 So... I'm guessing my last posted lyrics aren't going to be ID'd?
Harry P. Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 "Oh, inside angel, Always upset... Keeps on forgetting That we ever met"...
ChrisBcritter Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 OK, shutting this one down. Let's try this: Name all three songs and the biggest connection between them. "I take her to the drags, man and everyone flips For her big blue eyes and her candy apple lips..." The Beach Boys - "Car Crazy Cutie" (from the Little Deuce Coupe LP) "There's a ninety-pound weakling, well he ain't got no place Cause you know he'll only get the sand kicked in his face..." Dick Dale and the Del-Tones (also Annette) - "Muscle Beach Party" (from the movie soundtrack) "I never had a steady girl now for more than a day I'd get a good thing going then I'd throw it away..." The Survivors - "Pamela Jean" (Capitol 45 5102) Hints: Same writer, three different artists (sort of). One was part of a soundtrack, one was an album cut, and the other was a one-off 45. None was a big hit despite the talent involved. Writer - Brian Wilson; connection - all three used the same melody
Mike_G Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I thought the lyrics of the first one sounded like something Brian Wilson would write If the movie is the one I'm thinking of, Dick Dale wears a big hoop earring
jwrass Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 To the boys in the band!!! I'mmmmm Back and ready to jamm! Actually I would have been back weeks ago however I purchased a new laptop (only had a desktop before other than a LT from 94 with 3.1 on it) a few days before a complete knee replacement on March 10, I figured it would give me the opportunity to bone up on my P.C. skills and contribute to the site while I have been laid up, when I went to sign in the site didn't recognize my information ( most likely due to me changing my email address and never up dating my information on the site) Bottom line I was locked out and had no way of communicating with the administrators. Finally through one of our brothers 10 Thumbs (Thanks Michael you are a true friend) I was able to get back on and plan to contribute when I can. I had a bunch of material scratched down that I was going to post, I'll have to dig that stuff up and get crack'in. I hope all is well with everyone. Let the Music Play!!! Peace Jimmy "RASS"
Harry P. Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 "I remember holding you while you sleep. Every day I feel the tears that you weep"...
Mike_G Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 "I remember holding you while you sleep. Every day I feel the tears that you weep"... Day After Day by Badfinger
Mike_G Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 George Harrison plays slide guitar on that song, and Leon Russell plays the piano parts
Crazy Ed Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 But will they still be seen, when time and tides have been? *Now in reference to the prior post - Wow Imagine Leon Russell Playin' the Piano!! ( ). Think it's time to watch Mad Dogs and Englishmen again!*
slusher Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 "Oh, inside angel, Always upset... Keeps on forgetting That we ever met"... The Cars - Dangerous type
JollySipper Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 1-- I will be watching over you, gonna help to see you thru, I will protect you in the night..... 2-- On the counter, by your keys, was a book of numbers, and your remedies..........
JollySipper Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 Yep! Even got the album right.............. When I was a kid I had the "Countdown To Extacy" album, been hooked on Steely Dan since..........
jwrass Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Jolly, Always a huge fan of the Dan. When I was Married in May of 1978 Aja (the whole LP) was huge!! IMO not a bad cut on that one. My wife and I took just about all our wedding $$$$ and bought a state of the art DC Sansui system with huge Synergistic towers, at that time we spent like $2,200.00 that system, that was big money back then, but that thing would shake the walls, windows and neighborhood. The first time I heard Do It Again in 72 I was hooked Peace Jimmy "RASS" Edited April 13, 2015 by jwrass
Harry P. Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Count me in as a Steely Dan fan... My second favorite SD song... "Any Major Dude." And my favorite of all...
jwrass Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Here at the Western World. One of the best songs ever written, played and produced about the oldest profession in the world. Put me down for Deacon Blues as my #1. I really don't recall a S.D song that I don't like! Their lyrics captivate the essence of life's experiences
Harry P. Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Deacon Blues is another good one! They have so many good songs it's hard to pick a favorite! "Here at the Western World" is my fave, but then there's "Reelin' in the Years" and "Dirty Work" and "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" and "Pretzel Logic" and "Do It Again" and "My Old School" and on and on...
Crazy Ed Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 You say that you love me (say you love me) All of the time (all of the time) You say that you need me (say you need me) You'll always be mine (always be mine) Glad All , by the Dave Clark 5
Crazy Ed Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 But will they still be seen, when time and tides have been? I thought this'd get answered for sure . Shapes of Things, by The Yardbirds.
Snake45 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I thought this'd get answered for sure . Shapes of Things, by The Yardbirds. Have never heard that, but I have it on Jeff Beck's first album Truth, something of a collector's item today. It might also be on Bowie's Pinups, a collection of oldies covers--I don't remember.
Harry P. Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Speaking of the Yardbirds... here's an appearance by them on French TV in 1967. Recognize the song? And the lead guitarist with the "puffy shirt?"
