cobraman Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I was a building machine not long ago but I put my stuff away and packed up my table about a week before I was to fly to Chicago. I was gone about a week and have been back about a week and just can't get motivated to haul everything out and get started. Not the first time this has happened and most of you have gone through it as well most likely. Unlike other times I will not be selling or giving or throwing my stuff away. Coming here and seeing others work will spark me to get building again at some point.
wayne swayze Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Glad to know that you're not getting rid of anything Ray! I've had long periods of time go by with no urge to build, but then the time WILL come, and you can pick up and get going again. Hang in there...you might just see someone here building something that will get you fired up on all cylinders!
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Hope you get your motavation back. I enjoy watching yours projects come together.
Petetrucker07 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Ive been there bud. Look at the bench on here, and look at your displayed builds, or just go to your LHS and look at the model isle. That might help, itll come back, and good idea not gettin rid of your stuff, i made that mistake and wont again.
southpier Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 sometimes I get over-whelemed (sic) and can't get focused, not because of lacking projects, but too many. clean up the bench, get a new kit and snip parts off the trees, organize your spare parts and reduce inventory, or simply do research. it'll come back.
rmvw guy Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) I have always enjoyed seeing your builds. You maybe needed a break? I have been down all Summer with three old Fords in a box I was working on at once. Maybe a little too ambitious? Anyway, I am side tracked with a home remodel project. Can't wait to get back. It helps me looking on here a few minutes every day just as a reminder of how much I love this hobby. Edited August 30, 2014 by rmvw guy
slusher Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Ray, I have only finished 2 models this year. I know how you feel. some times trips or chores breaks us. My desire is coming back.. I have three projects started and I hope to finish by the end of the year...
Tom Geiger Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) sometimes I get over-whelemed (sic) and can't get focused, not because of lacking projects, but too many. clean up the bench, get a new kit and snip parts off the trees, organize your spare parts and reduce inventory, or simply do research. it'll come back. I fall into that 'too much stimuli' category. I have at least 5 projects that could be done with a day's work, but have other ideas... I am also side tracked by summer. Once the pool is closed and I get done with my outdoor painting, I'll be back at it. Ray, you've been away what? two weeks. Sounds like you got side tracked by life and helping your sister move. What is occupying your time now? Is it helping her get settled, spending time with her? Often when life gets back to the routine, we will find we need some bench time. There are times I walk away from the bench for weeks or months. I don't tear it all down, I know I'll be back. and the suggestion to sort out your stuff is a good one. When I get overwhelmed, I organize the hobby room. Once done and I have one project on the bench in front of me, I can refocus! Edited August 31, 2014 by Tom Geiger
