cobraman Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Found one on ebay for 150.00. Thinking about maybe getting this one. Is there any photos of finished kits around here somewhere ? Did a search but came up empty.
Cato Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Mine was a WIP and Under Glass in 2010 but I can't find it either. It's the cover of MCM issue #156 also. That write up Casey featured is not a good indicator of the kit. Its value is to see the parts provided in the box. It was built by a very limited-skill modeler and his assumptions and conclusions are predicated on his limitations. An example is his inability to assemble the plumbing and omitting it but advising that it was unworkable. That's nonsense. Another is his praising the stock suspension which is most toy like and requires scratchbuilding for anywhere near accuracy. His color choices and love of the excess chrome is further away from a representative build. More recently, Eric Cole has built a magnificent one which buries mine but I can't find that one either. It also seems "mrknowetall"-does not. No source has been named for his statement.
Harry P. Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Mine was a WIP and Under Glass in 2010 but I can't find it either. Here's the thread, but you must have deleted or moved all the photos from where they were originally: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=34339&hl=%2Btrumpeter+%2Bford+%2Bgt (BTW... I found it by using the "Search" function).
Cato Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks Harry. I searched all combinations of Trumpeter / GT-40 / WIP / 1 /12 but came up empty. Whaja search??

Cato Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Yup-did too. And here's what I got; 16 results, all from this thread... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1
cobraman Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks. I swear it did not come up when I did a search. Maybe bad spelling in the search ??????
Casey Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Harry's got the magic key to the 'Search Room'... It's actually a magic wand, and ahem, Harry, stop bogarting it.
Harry P. Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I don't know what you guys are doing differently, but when I typed Trumpeter GT40 into the Search box I got this...
jaymcminn Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I should have mine arriving tomorrow... $159 on Ebay and free shipping to boot! I've also ordered a set of decals to represent the #1 car. I'm probably not going to go nuts on getting every little detail perfect (and I'm not going to spend a fortune on the KA detail sets), but I'm going to do what I can (within reason) to do justice to the original. It seems that a lot of these get started and put away by builders who don't have the patience to see a project like this through, and I don't want to fall into that trap.
Brett Barrow Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 It is disco'd. You can take that to the bank. Snatch em up while you can.
Scott - Elm City Hobbies Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 mrknowetall, on 07 Mar 2013 - 21:13, said: The kit is discontinued by the manufacturer. Whatever is in the hobby distribution pipeline is all there will be. Gone. Finished. Don, What is your source for this information?
