Yea, I finally gave up a few weeks ago and winterized the pool and put away all the lawn furniture. All I ask for right now is no rain for Friday and Saturday so they can finish installing my new roof. And then some nice sunny days to set the shingles!

Reminds me, we need to put the thermostat back on the wall after painting, and get some oil. Might be a good idea to get the a/c out of the window, too.

What a dank, dreary day it's been.

Sunny fall day here west of Philadelphia! It was cold in the house when we woke up so the wife fired up the furnace for the first time. Which means I'm making a Lowes trip to get some new furnace filters.

I still have an outside decking paint project I haven't finished. Seems every time I have time it rains. Good day to get a few hours in!

Furnace filters! I keep forgetting to pick those up. I'm surprised my furnace can ever warm up the house with as bad as the one in there now has to be.

We must be channelling each other! I wound up going to Lowes this afternoon, who only had one, and then to Home Depot across the road for the two I needed. Old ones were kinda crusty!

We've been having typical crazy midwest weather. A few days ago we had highs in the mid 80s... the past 2-3 days we've had overnight lows in the upper 30s and daytime highs barely in the 50s!

The weird thing is, with all of this "fall" weather, the trees are all still 90% green. Fall colors are coming very late here this year.

Today the sun is shining and the sky is blue with temps at 58 degrees. I'm definitely gonna make the last "cruise night" of the season at the local Dog 'N Suds. It should definitely be a good time.

I was "out & about" today and with the temps into the 50's and the fall colors here, summer is definitely gone. Last year I was with my better half and another couple and we did a "Fall Colors" motor coach tour of the New England states, and it was an excellent trip. I guess in two months I can expect to see that "white stuff" here also. Oh boy, oh joy, guess I'll just have to deal with it like I did last winter.

I will always remember this summer since deep down I knew it would be my dog Ted's last one. I worked from home a lot this year, so I made sure he got plenty of outdoor time. There were days I'd be here banging on the computer and he was asleep in the sun on the deck. He loved that. Summer is gone and so is he!

Sorry for your loss Tom. I've got an 18 year old cat that I'm figuring will go soon. It's always hard when they do. They're more like family than just pets.
