Now that I have it, I'm almost scared to build it. This is the rarest kit I've ever had.

And the most expensive I've ever seen.

Rare, kitted only once. It does have issues, but it's really the only kitted heavy haul truck. Besides all that I have always liked it. I'm sure others can give better reasons as I'm a rookie at collecting kits.

OK, so I take it that it's larger than a standard Peterbilt? I'm not sure what makes it heavy haul capable. I checked out the BS site, and they certainly haul some strange loads.

Odd, but the last place I worked, routinely shipped 14' diameter x 40'-60' tall silos. Special permits were required for the 14 footers, but we had many of them built and shipped. Larger diameter silos, were just built in-place, utilizing standard bolted tank methods.

Yes they do.

The spread axle drives, frame ramps, bigger rear ends, and float steer tires are what make it a heavy haul truck. In its day when Revell kitted it, it was the poster child for working show trucks.

I have to ask,... what makes this kit unique?

All of the things that Clayton mentioned are correct plus the custom grill and straight pipes. Part of the appeal of the kit is it rarity.

Isn't the actual Bill Signs Peterbilt a 379, though? I know that's the problem with the Can-Do wrecker; it's a 379 on the box but a 359 in the box.

From what I understand there are two of them. Clydes I is a 379, and Clydes II (the kit truck) is a 359 extended hood. Bill Signs also has some matching 357s and 377s in the fleet also. I think Clydes I & II are the only ones with the custom grill. It looked like they all had the spread axle set up.

One of these days I'm gonna stop by their yard and ask to look around and take pics. I unload not to far from them from time to time. I've seen the actual truck, from the road, in their shop. It looks pretty good for being an older work horse. They 367s, 388s and 389s now with the emissions regulations and what not. They haul a lot of oversized stuff, not just equipment. They have a bunch of crane parts in their yard. And yes Terry is right, the kit and 1:1 is a 359. It's the same cab and hood as the Can-do and Will-do wreckers with the opening doors. I need track down a 3408 for mine. I want to at least make that correction. Possibly the hood too, guess I'll figure that out once I start on it.

Thats really the main two issues. The 3408s come in the Revell KWs, and I know we have that engine list in the Truck Stop for what else it might come in. Im sure someone has one for trade.

I think I'm done for now. I got my tax return and wanted a couple of that I've always wanted. Figured it's now or never. I'm still searching for a Beall tanker. Doubt I'll find 1 for a decent price.

Those beall kits are crazy, but I've never really understood the revell hype, just because I can't stand they're wheels and tires.

I just scored this. I'm sure it has its issues, but it's more for nostalgia. I also scored the matching car to go with it.

I just got this in the mail today and opened it up. I am pleasantly surprised by the detail that this little snapper has. No engine, it is curbside but it has brake detail. If it weren't for the sticker decals, this could be a show piece. But I'm not concerned with the level of accuracy or anything. It's just gonna sit on my shelf.

One more to add to the pile, this time the 1:25 Revell 359. With the possible exception of a COE, this'll probably do it for me in this scale. For reasons I don't understand, this one came in with no shrink wrap, though kit inside is pristine and complete.

I have done three of these. No glue required (Snap-Tite) even when the box says you need it.
