mhadman Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Here is some thing that has been ongoing for a couple years..I work on it in bits here and there. I have always loved the early Vega body style, and when the twister was reissued,I grabbed a couple and a 70 1/2 Camaro and decided to morph them together. Here is where it is so far. I first started by chopping up the Camaro front end and hood, and grafting the pieces onto the Vega. This was done a year ago,and I only just got back on it today..Here I added a bit of the camaro flavor out back. Still a long way to go. Not sure what to do about the rear bumper. Not sure I want to put the stock one on,or just fill in the recess.
novadose71 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Very cool! I like the L-88 hood on there. Just an idea, but why not chop up a 70 Camaro rear bumper to keep the Camaro theme going.
James W Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I agree with Rob. Graft the Camaro tail panel to the Vega. At first I thought, just put the Camaro bumper on, but it would look great to do the whole panel. You did a great job on the front too!
mikelo Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 After you do that, you need to put the front split bumpers on it as well. That was actually a common mod for the 1:1. Great looking project. Keep us posted.
camaroman Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 looking good!!! Great job One of my favorite rides as a youth was a Kammback wagon that belonged to my boss. I worked at a Chevrolet dealership in Clayton Ga. back in the late 70's as a teenager. The Vega was one of our parts chasers/loaners/employee drivers. That baby was a great ride until one of the guys shifted 3rd to 1st coming down a 10% grade. When the B50 13's in the rear caught the clutch became space dust. That Lil 'Vega was never the same after that.
mhadman Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 Another long stalled project I hope to finish this year.
