Scale-Master Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I have an FXX Id like to build (in red) so I thought Id do a dry run with the standard Enzo kit first just to see how it goes together. There are no Grigio Medio Enzos (yet?). But I thought it would look good since the 458 and 430s Ive seen look nice. I used Ocean Gray as a facsimile. Ive already started painting and assembling the body. I used cigarette foil for the heat shield material. I know the interior should be carbon fiber from the factory, but I decided to carpet it with some old Testors tan that dries dead flat and coarse. To complement the tan I went with a Chamois color for the upholstery.
cobraman Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Boy that foil looks good. What did you use to bond it ?
Scale-Master Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Thanks. Micro Metal Foil Adhesive.
Scale-Master Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 All the lights have been installed into the rear fascia and the doors are done.
Kennyboy Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Is this the Tamiya kit or the Revell Mark? Looks great either way!
Scale-Master Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 Thanks, it's the Tamiya kit. I decided semi-gloss black would look better than chrome or silver for the wheels.
MBXPilot Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I've never been a fan of the Enzo, but I do love that color on it! Your detailing is fantastic.
Scale-Master Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 Thanks! I textured the cam covers before painting them red.
mrm Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Not a fan of the interior by a long shot, but love the exterior color. The red finish on the heads looks great, but the black part needs to be shiny as it is carbon fiber on the 1:1. Greatly interested in the finished product. i love the Grigio Medio, but it can make or break a car. Great job so far.
Scale-Master Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 Thanks for the info. I intend to put a coat of clear gloss on the cam cover black parts also to help seal on the Ferrari scripts, (they are not cemented together yet). I'm also not adding much C/F decal to it, probably just to the air box.. I see the real cars are predominantly glossy C/F. This build is a trial run to see how these kits go together so I can see what it all looks like (what can be seen and what can't when buttoned up), and if there are any areas that need special attention before I build an FXX. That one will get more C/F detailing.
DrKerry Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Nice build so far, I too have the Enzo and FXX that I want to build. Both are excellent cars!!!
ferrari87 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Looks great so far! That shine on the paint....gorgeous.
Scale-Master Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 Brakes and the rear body section. I replaced the Ferrari lettering on the calipers with my own since they needed to be black to go with the yellow.
Kennyboy Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Excellent work as usual Mark! Those rotors and calipers look like the real thing!
ferrari87 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Excellent work as usual Mark! Those rotors and calipers look like the real thing! They really do! Looks outstanding!
magaloud Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Really like this. Enzo is the only Ferrari I like, especially when not painted red.
Scale-Master Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 The front (and most of the rear) suspension are installed as well as the main bulk of the engine.
Chillyb1 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 C'mon already! I'm dying to see what this color looks like when the whole thing is assembled. I love the color and think it will look really understated on such a potent vehicle.
Scale-Master Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 The chassis is going together. The fit is very nice and needs almost zero cement, but I am using a little just to make sure it lines up as well as possible.
Scale-Master Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Dash… And steering wheel… Installed into the car… As you can see, the brown carpet is barely even noticeable now.
MBXPilot Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Lovely work! The color combo just really couldn't be any better.
Scale-Master Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Thanks Logan! Chassis pan is all assembled…
