afx Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Fabricated helmet boxes. The helmets come from the Tamiya set. I back dated them for a 70's style helmet.
om617 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 This just get better and better, the detail is amazing. Wheels look really crisp,Fireball Modelworks does great work.
afx Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) Driver's dead pedal and Co-Driver's footrest. Edited March 28, 2015 by afx
afx Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Here is most of the interior junk. Made the map pockets from .040 sheet plastic. Created the folds by scraping a ball bit across the plastic. I then thinned the top edge to give the appearance of a pocket. The kit extinguishers are too large to place in front of the seats so I made a smaller one that will be installed in front of the Co-Drivers seat. The large kit extinguisher will be installed behind the Driver's seat. Added some detail to driving lamp brackets on the front bumper. Edited March 29, 2015 by afx
afx Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) Fireball Modelworks sent me pictures of painted samples of the wheels. The silver wheel is paint applied directly to the resin and gives the true detail level of the wheels. The blue wheel was primed and then painted and the finish is a bit heavy. Speedfreak Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Wow JC, The front view of the car is stellar, and , that finish on the blue wheels will tighten up a bit with some drying time. Keep up the great work, it's fun to watch.
Xploited Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 This Is some really nice craftsmen work ! Your bringing this to a whole new level , very inspiring, hope to see more soon

afx Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 I really like the level of detail you are bringing to this build JC!!! Top notch stuff!! The map pocket fabrication is awesome!! Best part about the map pockets Joe it was easy to do. I have seen guys make these using paper mashay and they look great. These will be installed on the bottom edge of the doors and painted black like the rest of the interior so I didn't think they warranted a great deal of effort but I did want to add them.
dublin boy Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 The wheels are looking very good, are the tyres the final version? Fabulous work on the interior too JC.
afx Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 The wheels are looking very good, are the tyres the final version? Fabulous work on the interior too JC. Thanks Shay. Fireball is tweeking the tires a bit. Haven't seen the final version yet.
afx Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) A fellow Escort enthusiast pointed out that the front bumpers in the kit are too tall. After checking them against the rear bumper he was right. The front bumpers are a full 1mm taller (thicker) then the rear. So here are the corrected bumpers. Edited March 31, 2015 by afx
Speedfreak Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Wow, it's nice to have fellow modelers around! What a great thing to spot.
afx Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Fabricated a map light for the Co-Driver's door.
afx Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 This is unreal. simply said. Wow Thanks Michel. Glad you are enjoying the build.
dublin boy Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I know you're doing your own glass JC, but will you have the front windows down to show off the interior?
afx Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 I know you're doing your own glass JC, but will you have the front windows down to show off the interior? I would like to have the side windows open even though they almost never ran with them even partially down. I haven't tried to work out any mounting details yet for that option so we'll see when I get closer to that point.
