dublin boy Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Looks good JC, the shell on my Revell version is rough, it's actually sharp in places. Are you going to paint all the side window trim black, or just the window rubbers?
afx Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) Hi JC, Looking good in primer!! What brand of primer are you using? Randy Thanks Randy. Primer coat revealed a few issue but nothing to serious. Here I have used Tamiya's Fine Gray Primer but I use Dupli-Color frequently. I still need to extend the panel line below the door sill that defines the front fender. Edited May 6, 2015 by afx

Speedfreak Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Looking good JC, you've put a lot of work into this car and it shows. I love the sound of the engines from above video, these things were ferocious little buggers!
afx Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) This is what it will look like at our club's show, NNL Mid-Atlantic. Edited May 9, 2015 by afx
dublin boy Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Nice, is that the final stance JC? If I lived near you I'd have to break in during the middle of the night to paint that, it's crying out for a bit of blue!
Speedfreak Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) Looks great the way it is JC, with paint it will be very nice indeed. Those wheels and tires are just killer. Edited May 10, 2015 by Speedfreak
afx Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Yep Shay that is the final stance. If you lived closer I would let you paint it. I hate painting! Thanks Gene.
Ron Hamilton Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 This is what it will look like at our club's show, NNL Mid-Atlantic. Considering what you started with, what you have here is a masterpiece. The attention to detail, and the fitment is phenominal!!!

om617 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Looks so good. I`m sure the paintjob will be piece of cake for you.
dublin boy Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Yep Shay that is the final stance. If you lived closer I would let you paint it. I hate painting! Thanks Gene. I'd be afraid to paint that too after all the work you did! Do you use rattlecans or an airbrush JC?
afx Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Looks so good. I`m sure the paintjob will be piece of cake for you. Thanks Tommy. I'd be afraid to paint that too after all the work you did! Do you use rattlecans or an airbrush JC? I use rattlecans on the body Shay and airbrush everything else.
dublin boy Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Just asking, the TS-15 I used on the Tyrrell was dreadful, very lumpy straight from the can, do a spoon test first. I normally use auto acrylic rattlecans and it seems much better than Tamiya, but I guess that's what I'm used to.
afx Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Never had any issues with Tamiya paints but I'll test the TS-15 before I spray it on the body.
Speedfreak Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Do you use rattle cans as a matter of preference on bodies generally? Edited May 11, 2015 by Speedfreak
afx Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Do you use rattle cans as a matter of preference on bodies generally? Yes, Tamiya spray can paint tends to flow out and level themselves better for me than I can accomplish with an air brush. More skilled painters get better results with an airbrush. Plus I don't like spraying solvent based paints in my house. I use the rattle cans outside.
mustang1989 Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) I'm definitely looking to more of this great build JC! Edited May 12, 2015 by mustang1989
Speedfreak Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I've found that spraying solvent based paints inside does a great job of keeping out fly's and mosquito's.................. Actually, I do the same thing, paint outside with cans, it's an adventure, but , I'm having some success with it at this point. I love painting.

If I was better at it Gene I would probably enjoy it more.
afx Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 JC, How's the painting going? Gene, been building up the interior but haven't started final paint yet. I'll post some pictures of the interior when it's finished.
afx Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Some fellow Escort enthusiast thought the front air dam was a bit too exaggerated so I modified it slightly. Its a subtle change. Before: After: Before: After: You'll also note that I have extended the fender panel line below the door sill. I applied a coat of white primer in preparation for the final color.
afx Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Finished interior. Sorry you can't quite see all the detail. it is hard to photograph and all black interior.
