afx Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 If you can get Minilites like that I want some! Can you tell us more, are they scaled for the kit's slick tyres? Shay, the wheels will be the correct 13" size with tires to match. The kit wheels/tires scale out to approximately 15".
afx Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 Always impressive to watch the attention to detail. Great work. Thanks Tommy. Amazing work Thanks Jonathan
afx Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Adding more detail to the front strut mounts including the brackets for the strut brace. Edited January 18, 2015 by afx
afx Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Any more news on the Minilites yet JC? It will be awhile till I get them Shay. We are still designing the wheels and the tires. They will then need to be 3D printed and then resin cast. I will post pictures as soon as I have them.
dublin boy Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Almost everything rallyed and raced over here had Minilites used in some shape and size from the late 60's to the early 80's. If they can be made to fit an existing kit tyre, or even all cast/printed as one piece there's a lot of people I know that would buy them. Edited January 18, 2015 by dublin boy

Shay I can tell you the wheels will be 15 mm in diameter with the front wheel 8 mm wide and the rear 10 mm wide.

afx Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 This should just about be the final wheel/tire rendering. Tread pattern is based on this picture.
Speedfreak Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) REally nice JC! Those wheels look pretty spot on. This is the most exciting thread I've followed in quite some time. When you say " fabricated " as with the parts for the strut mounts, do you mean that you used no 'existing' pieces? Thanks. Edited January 22, 2015 by Speedfreak

Yep everything you see in the pictures that is white plastic is completely scratch built. The kit pieces are blue, black or gray plastic.
om617 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Those wheels look amazing. Do you know if anyone makes 5lug of these?
afx Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 Those wheels look amazing. Do you know if anyone makes 5lug of these? Fireball Modelworks did all the hard work on the wheels & tires. I just provided reference material and guidance. To the best of my knowledge these wheels have never before been available in any scale or any style.
dublin boy Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Can't wait to see the wheels and tyres JC. Now that there's a pattern/mold will they be available for sale?
