' Font ' infill panels (?) Like a 'new' casting?

The Escort is an example of unibody construction therefore the body and chassis should appears as one piece. Gaps between the chassis and body would not be present on the 1:1 car. So I fabricated the semicircular infill panels on either end of the firewall to close these gaps.

JC, ya, I get all that and those pieces are what I thought you were referring to. What threw me off was the use of the word ' Font.

Beautiful and inspirational work man, I love the subject!

Sorry Gene I didn't even see my typo even after you pointed it out to me! Should be "Front", I edited my post to correct it.

I appreciate the effort your putting into restoring the Super Boss Barracuda. I have a '65 I am trying to restore.

The kit glass is ridiculously thick, nearly .070"

I am replacing it with some .010" clear sheet stock.

When I install the glass I will hold it in place with a .015" headliner panel.

Fabricated the water inlet for the engine from some shaped rod, flat sheet and a photo-etch header flange. The loose pipe will be trimmed and attached on top of the flange and connect to the radiator hose.

JC, I thought it might have been a typo, but , I didn't say as much, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That '65 is looking great. It's amazing that you are at pretty much the same place in the restoration that I am. I also find interesting the subtle differences between the '65 body and that of the '66. I just posted some pics in my thread that you might find interesting.

The work you're doing on this Escort is just awsome and gives me something to shot for. I really enjoy watching you work, thanks.

Thanks again Gene.

Here I have replaced the out of scale header flange and added mounting pins.

I'm sitting here watching the Killarney historic rally on tv JC.

All the historic (as opposed to modified) Mk 1 and Mk2 Escorts with big arches are running those Minilites you have coming.

The Modified cars are running huge wheels, 2.5 litre engines and 6 speed sequential boxes.

Very cool Shay. I prefer the historics myself.

Here's some inspiration for ya!

The problem with the kit to some extent is it gives you slicks which makes you assume it's Tarmac spec, but the suspension is too high, it's (i think) forest spec from the Lombard RAC rally.

This is probably modified, but it looks better. The standard kit wheels don't fill out the arches either although the Revell version shows some mods from the original Esci.

Any ideas if you will lower it JC?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Cr2XmoRn6s

Cool video Shay. Yea that car is definitely lower than Boreham/Sutton ever raced them even in tarmac spec. I want to be historically accurate so mine won't be that low.

The kit is designed to have you attach the engine to the cross member then install this assembly into the chassis. Since I like to repeatedly test fit that didn't work for me. So I devised a method of locating the engine without the cross member in place.

Doesn't look great with the engine out but it is completely hidden when the engine is installed.

Looks good JC, the headers are awesome.

I did some work on them to make them look a little better but they may be the best part in the whole kit Gene.

I'm not familiar with this engine. But, shouldn't the header be located on the head? At it's present location, it looks like it's where the rods would be. Is this a Cosworth or ?

It's Ford's BDA (Belt Drive A) engine. The exhaust ports come out of the bottom edge of the head. The kit engine is not quite accurate in this regard and maybe the header should be slightly higher. However that would have required making a custom header and I am pretty happy with the kit part.

Thanx for the info JC. I see what you mean now. The head is dang near as tall as the block! I wouldn't mind having a similar engine for my little Escort build. It's in stall mode at the moment.

Great work JC, I think the engine looks real good so far.

About that header I think you got it as close as you could without making an entire engine from scratch.
