JollySipper Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 My 11 year old niece and a couple of her friends got a little recognition for a project they worked on in their spare time. They used the PowerPoint program to make slideshow presentations. Her project was How to grow a Pumpkin. The teacher was so impressed with their work, that it was presented to the local Board of Education!
forthlin Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Congratulations to your niece. I'll bet She has some proud parents.
mnwildpunk Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Cool to hear that all younger people r not dumb dumbs
JollySipper Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 What impressed me about it the most was she was playing with PowerPoint in her down time, when her work was finished! A little nerdy, maybe.... but very cool in my book
JollySipper Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 So my niece is 13 now! She's worked all summer at a local race track at the concession stand. She saved all summer the money she was earning. Now it's back to classes and she was able to buy herself a laptop for school. I thought it pretty cool that she was responsible enough to know if she wanted something she had to work for it. She's a pretty bright kid...............

Back in the 60's I had worked in a grocery store for two years, to save up enough money to buy my first car, as my parents certainly didn't have it.
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I thought it pretty cool that she was responsible enough to know if she wanted something she had to work for it.Now, if we could just teach that basic concept to the entitlement class in this country...
Snake45 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Congratulations! She knows how to do TWO things now, one of them actually practical. This puts her way ahead of half the elected officials in this country, including most of the ones whose names you'd recognize.
JollySipper Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Thanks for the kind words, gents.....! She's my buddy, man, and she does good.......
CometMan Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Sounds like she has a great head start in life! Who knows, maybe one day hers will be one of the names of elected officials we all recognize!
JollySipper Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Congratulations! She knows how to do TWO things now, one of them actually practical. Thanks Snake! I'm glad you see I'm proud of her and didn't get all smarmy............... (oh, wait.....)
Mike_G Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 It's nice to see young people with traditional valuesI was fishing in the park today and a young feller called me "sir"That's good parenting
JollySipper Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Her and her little bro call me 'sir' even though I've told them they don't have to, just be respectful of everyone else.......
