Mr Stock Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Bit of a different venture for me as I'm normally a strictly shiny factory stock builder, this is the great AMT Chevy 3100 kit, I can echo everyones comments in that this kit was a joy to build. I wanted to get the look of a weather worn beaten up old truck that's still in daily use. I used a Red oxide primer base and used MIG products heavy chipping fluid then a topcoat of Vallejo acrylic, the rest of the effects are a mixture of pastels and Tamiya weathering powders. I made various dents in the body using heat and the tip of an eraser from a pencil. Very happy with how it turned out. 1
jdean Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 I really like that, great job on the weathering !! Ronnie
DynoMight Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Wow! Great weathering. How did you get the chrome to look like that? Looks really good.

Thanks Glenn, I sort of had a head start on the chrome as the kits chrome tree was almost a satin finish, but to help it along I painted on Vallejo Satin clear and then used a mixture of MIG rust stain fluid and Citadel "Nuln Oil" wash.
Old Buckaroo Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Fantastic - That truck looks like all it needs is some fresh gas and a jump and you would be good to roll ! Very nice work

rmvw guy Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) Very nice job on the weathering. Looks kind of like the one I once owned and built in 1;25, only in the blue variety. I love this kit having built it 5 times with two more on the shelf. Edited December 14, 2014 by rmvw guy

rmvw guy Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the kind comments guys, love the red truck Ron, it is a superb kit and Ill be buying another for the stash very soon. Thanks Gary, I couldn't resist posting mine since it looks so close to yours. I tried to get a smaller picture but, this is the only size allowed for me. This is one of my favorites. You should look at some of Dr. Cranky's weathering of the '50 pickup. He does a lot of the blue hues, I love all his work. Here's the link. http://www.doctorcrankyslabratory.com/ Yours really reminds me of what he does. Edited December 16, 2014 by rmvw guy
