LDO Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I have a few of the old foam mats. I'd like to cut one or two up and make a pad 3 or 4 layers thick for when I have to work on something down low. Anyone know of a good adhesive for this idea? I did consider just buying some other pad that's thicker, but it seems everything else is too expensive and heavy or too delicate. (would sometimes be used outside) Thanks. Lee
Casey Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Oatey CPVC cement? Is the foam bare or coated with a layer of vinyl or similar? You might try 3M headliner or fabric adhesive.
LDO Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 It's bare, and very flexible. The mats are rolled up when not in use.
Casey Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Like a yoga mat, or an old seat cushion from an RV type (that gold stuff) foam?
Joe Handley Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Rubber cement, talked to a couple R/C airplane guys about that over the years. You might also see if you can find 3M spray adheasive, been a while since we've had some at work, but I think it might have been a bit pricy.
1930fordpickup Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Go to a automotive paint store they should have what you need.
southpier Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 zip tie the edges so when they get cruddy you can flip them for double duty?
Mike_G Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Brush-on contact cement would be the cheap way to go. 3M spray trim cement is ~$15 a can.
LDO Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 It's like a yoga mat. It's designed for soldiers to carry around and use in lots of different environments. Many soldiers use them daily for sit ups and pushups outside. I'll look for a spray adhesive.
