railsat2 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 (edited) Building a project using those trucks but the plastic tires and wheels are horrible, rest of project I'm improvising and can make look better. Just want something better Edited December 25, 2014 by railsat2
lapazleo Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Tires and wheels off amt 1-32 snaps way better than monograms but not many options otherwise
railsat2 Posted December 25, 2014 Author Posted December 25, 2014 Thanks i appreciate the fast answer and will look into it
Superpeterbilt Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I would look for some diecast donors
Petetrucker07 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Thats what i would suggest also. The New Ray trucks wheels look better than kit wheels. The wheels are all the same for the Petes, kws, volvos, freightliners and macks. The Loves truck stop, Pilot and Flying J have a pretty decent selection. The T/A and Petro are hit and miss.
Bennyg Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 If you want spiders, auslowe makes great ones. Ben
Chuck Most Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 (edited) On my Aeromax, I used two sets of tires from Revell's 1:25 '97 F-150. I wanted spokes, so I used the ones from the Mack CF pumper. Edited December 25, 2014 by Chuck Most
Bennyg Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Those tyres look great. Here is the auslowe page. Down the bottom. Separate spider from the rim. http://www.auslowe.com.au/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=21&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=27
hooknladderno1 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Do any resin casters sell just 1/32 tires/wheels? I have several of the Monogram Mack fire trucks to convert. Could really use some better alternatives without buying full kits for just tires/wheels... Thanks! David

I've got a set for my Mack fire engine. Also got a set to refurbish my 1/32 superliner. Ben
Chariots of Fire Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 If you can get your hands on some of the old Aurora California Fire Truck wheels they are pretty good. The snap kit tires I think would fit them.
Russell C Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 For the restoration of my ol' GMC General, I've been keeping an eye out on ebay for an AMT parts truck Kenworth where I can use the wheels/tires and the 5th wheel. No such luck yet...

No such luck yet... I wish you would have spoken earlier , I recently gave away a KW kit just to clear up some shelf space. I suggest you place a feeler on the want list , as I would love to see this truck redone.

No biggie, I'll have to get my act together on assembling old magazines and other items for trade on random parts.
