Mopar - D Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Looking good Tom it's diffently coming together. On your wheels maybe go with chrome rim and blue spokes.
Old Buckaroo Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Looking good Tom it's diffently coming together. On your wheels maybe go with chrome rim and blue spokes. My thoughts exactly. Back in '69 the truck aftermarket would of been pretty scarce. Fancy wheels were slim to none and most likely very pricey.
tbill Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 well, chrome wheels won out, gotta have some bling on this rig to go with the theme. I now have a roller front hubs are white, rear hubs are same blue as cab, can't really see it, but they do reflect in the wheels. stay tuned for more of phase two..........
Mopar - D Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Nice progress Tom I like your choice on the wheels the blue and white on the hub is a nice touch. Have you pulled the trailer out yet to start working on the details you can do to it.
tbill Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Dan, not yet, I'm hoping to this weekend.....
Petetrucker07 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Lookin very good Tom. I'm loving the motor. That color is the best, nothing better than chevy orange!
slusher Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Frame and wheels look great Tom, glad you went with the chrome wheels. Just spotted you over here, now i have Dan, Joe, and you in the truck section...
tbill Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Carl, welcome to following the 'dark side', haha. Clayton, tried to keep the motor resembling the cars motors, just enough chrome on it to sorta match. hope to get some interior work done tonight, and more work on the fuel tanks [oh how i hate doing tanks........lol], and hopefully more prep on bits and parts. stay tuned......
Mopar - D Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Tom I will be checking in the morning for your progress.
tbill Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Dan, not much to report, lol. got the intrior bits painted and spent more time on the tanks. got stuff going on the next few days, so check back on sunday for progress
tbill Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 here is sundays update, interior is pretty well done, going to use the closed curtain once it's in the truck, let's face it, the bunk detail is minimal and you can't really see any of it once in the cab, so, curtain it will be. I also got the tanks painted in alclad along with the air intake tube. I think once buffed out a bit, the tanks will look quite good [i hope]. interior, and I started 'phase three' that bit of the trailer is now in color and drying, I like it so far. thanks for following along, stay tuned for more..........
Petetrucker07 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 The dash looks great. Good to see you starting on the trailer.
Mopar - D Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Tom the interior looks great I like the black and white it's going to look real share with the blue. Glad to see progress on the trailer I was going to suggest that you paint as you build it as I had a hard time painting mine after I had it built.
tbill Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 thanks guys. Dan, I was almost going to PM you about the painting part, but the more I looked at the parts, I thought, no way am I painting this as one assembly, way too many odd angles and such. plus I am using rattle cans, so spot precision is out, haha. so, here is todays bit of progress, this is the base of the trailer in front of a '53 foot moebius trailer, I really didn't think it was this long..... and my first go 'round with air brushing alclad on the tanks, thanks for following along, stay tuned........
gatorincebu Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Interesting build. I like what you have done thus far. i think it will be looking real good when you get it done and get the cars on the trailer. be Well Gator
slusher Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Nice work Tom, your making good progress. Dash detail is awesome..
Mopar - D Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Tom yea it's a big trailer check out the hydradic lines before you get to far along too I would have a planned routing i didn't when I did mine and wish I had. Your paint looks good.
kilrathy10 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Can't believe I've been missing out on all this progress you've been making, Tom.....I have to go back a couple of pages and say what awesome work you've done on those Camaros......I find that the most difficult thing for me to do is duplicate modeling......To have done six of those things without going crazy.....Wow....It would take me a whole year to get all those done...... Anyway, this is coming along, beautifully.....Great job and I like the color...... And Dan, that is one seriously cool picture of car transports......Those old cars on the back really do bring back memories, just as Jesse said......Awesome....
Tesla Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Tom, the interior looks excellent! The Alclad looks real nice on the tanks. I have to give Alclad a try. The trailer looks good also
tbill Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 thanks all, you keep me motivated been making progress, and have sprayed a LOT of blue paint! first off, I got the tanks mounted, [cab is just sitting there] have a good bit of the trailer together, rest of the parts are drying, so it shouldn't take much longer to complete the trailer. I BMF'd the ram cylinders, and here is where the whole trailer is at this point, hope to get some bench time tomorrow, with luck, I might be able to finish up the trailer this weekend [other than decals]. as always, thanks for watching, and stay tuned.........
Petetrucker07 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Looks great Tom. This is for sure gonna be a looker.
Mopar - D Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Tom nice work on the trailer your making great progress. Have you placed any of the Camaros on it yet to see how they look?
tbill Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Dan, the lines shouldn't be too bad, as the kit outlines where they run. and yes, I have put the cars on to get a 'look', hit one snag on that.....side pipes are a bit low on the cars, so the rear car on the lower part won't sit right due to the angle of the ramps, but I have figured out what I will do for that. todays bit of progress....it now rolls made one fatal mistake, due to not paying attention, I have the rams and beams mounted backwards on the rear most ramps that run to the bumper, I couldn't remove the mounting points for these off of the bumper without ruining something, so I am running with it
Mopar - D Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Tom the trailer is looking real good and with the Rams backwards from the kit directions would not have stopped a shipping outfit from having them set up like yours. From all the older car haulers I've looked at none of them looked the same. By the way the removable ramps will fit in the lower section to. It would of been pretty hard to get them on the upper section like you have them in mock up pictures.
