kilrathy10 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Excellent mods....This really looks good, Man...Really like the bumper work....
Superpeterbilt Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Looks great Terry. I really like the lights bars. Thanks Clayton. I was replicating the way the back of our Pete looked. I know its a new school thing, but I think itll work. I made it using some styrene rectangle tube with angle underneath for mounting the mudflaps. I made tiny aluminum bezels to cap off each light, plus those on the trailer. I should have those on soon.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Excellent mods....This really looks good, Man...Really like the bumper work.... Thanks JT.
Mopar - D Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Terry I like the way you did the metal grating on the frame.
SpreadAxle Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) I like what you've done with the trailer and your mods to the truck are pretty sweet. Cool project. Edited February 13, 2015 by SpreadAxle
Superpeterbilt Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Thanks guys. Small update for this weekend. I had a little paint mishap with the cab. So while that one is taking a stripper bath, I plucked a fresh one from the stack of Cali Haulers. I decided to leave the a/c off this time. I mounted the fenders on the hood now that they are finished. I extended them in the front to close the gap by the bumper. I also added round stock to the edge for the correct shape. I filled in the light holes in the bumper and filed down the overall thickness of the bumper. With the bumper mounted I can test out my hood hinges. Since the grill is cut out, the radiator will be moved a little closer to the grill shell. The chassis is getting close to paint. As for right now, I plan on heavily detailing the engine. The trailer is all painted, and I may have some pics up of it later.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 I mocked up the trailer. I still need to finish the tailgate, 2nd coat of chrome on the wheels, paint the hyd ram, etc.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Looking perty good man. This moving right along.
Superpeterbilt Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 The tractor has been painted and decals installed. I got the tailights in and mudflaps on. Still a ways to go.
gatorincebu Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Dayum, that is looking really good. The color is cool and the arrow head graphics are classic. Great job thus far. Be Well Gator
Petetrucker07 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Looks great man. It has that cool classic look. Nice job.
Mopar - D Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Terry those colors and your detail on this rig are fantastic!!
Tesla Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 The colors and the decals really make the classic look! Great work Terry.
Superpeterbilt Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 Thanks a lot fellas. Classic Old School is what I was going for, so I guess Im pulling it off. Now for the most tedious detail yet. Im leaving off the Pete hood ornament and replacing it with two handles like we had on our Pete. I bent the handles out of .030 brass round and filed the bottom flat. It took a few tries to get the shapes simetrical and uniform. Im happy with the outcome Ive also been working on the Cat. Being that it was a snap engine, I filled in some of the holes, and filled in the backs of some of the hollow pieces. I cut off the transmission and replaced it. A top plate and bolts have been added to the trans. All of the engine seems on the turbo etc, have been smoothed and puttied. The motor will be painted the same Antique White as the stripes on the truck.
Petetrucker07 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Nice work Terry. That's some fancy work on the grille shell.
Ken Gilkeson Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 beautiful. getting ready to start this kit also.
Kenny B Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Terry, I've been watching your build as it comes along. Very nice work I must say. Your kind of like me always looking around for things you can use on a model. My wife calls me a magpie always bending over in the parking lots to pick things up. Good idea for the ram. I used different size injection needles to make an antenna for my 1/12 Camaro. Not a druggy just had a friend that worked in a lab. Keep up the good work it's coming along real nice. Oh Love the grill. Ken.
Superpeterbilt Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) Small update: I mounted the front wheels, tail light bezels installed, and release made for 5th wheel. I wasnt happy with the trailer wheels, so I bought a set of Auslowe 3 spoke wheels. I think these will fit the theme. Edited March 18, 2015 by Superpeterbilt
Whelen36 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Where did you get the hose couplers from??? The ones for the air lines and brakes???
Superpeterbilt Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Where did you get the hose couplers from??? The ones for the air lines and brakes??? They are just made from small hex rod. I forget what size exactly, but it was either .040 or .060.They are not exactly accurate, but they are close enough for me.
Tesla Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Terry this is looking real nice and the 3 spoke wheels are a great choice
Superpeterbilt Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Terry this is looking real nice and the 3 spoke wheels are a great choice Thanks Dennis, and Clayton, and Kenny. Im trying to get this combo finished up so I can get started on those Macks!
