KJ790 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Looking for some feedback. Is there any interest in more accurate 1/16 scale rims cast in resin? If so, what would you want, 2-hole, 5-hole, 10-hole alcoa? On that note, is there any interest in 1/16 tires as well?
Jim B Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I think there would be some interest, if the price were right. I have the 1/16 Kenworth, and while I haven't looked through the kit completely, the tires don't look quite right.
kilrathy10 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I wouldn't mind having a set of drives and some two hole rims and tires for a trailer....If the price is right, I wouldn't have to cannibalize any of my other 1/16th scale kits.....
72 Charger Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I would be interested in a full set of two hole rims for my KW . As JT said for the right price . Better tyres would be good also as once the monogram tyres get old they perish very badly
KJ790 Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 What would you guys consider a reasonable price for something like this? I'm worried particularly about the tires because the upfront cost for me is high and the material cost for urethane rubber is pretty high. It's not worth it if nobody will buy them for what I would have to price them at.
kilrathy10 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 This is true....I'd expect about $30 a set of 8 is good, for the tires and $20 for a set of 8 on the rims, but any more than that, then I'd have to cannibalize....I understand your dilemma, though.....But, because a whole kit of the "wrong" tires can be had, now for $70 or so, you have to make do.....So $50 is top dollar for a set of rims and tires for me, for sure.....Just can't justify any more than that....
RAT-T Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I'D LIKE TO SEE A HEAVY DUTY TIRE IN 1/16, FOR A OIL FIELD, OR LOGGER TRUCK
Kenny B Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I would be interested in super singles and the low profile if the price was right as well. Any parts for a 1/16 I would be very intersted in. Ken.
72 Charger Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Low profile tyres would be very cool . Maybe you could consider doing some in 1/25 too?
KJ790 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Low profile tyres would be very cool . Maybe you could consider doing some in 1/25 too? I already have 1/25 low profile tires. I have had a lot of requests for 1/16 low pro tires, but I'm not sure that I can make them for the price that people want to pay. Urethane rubber is pretty expensive, much more so than resin. For a 1/25 scale tire it isn't bad, but for a 1/16 scale tire you end up using a lot more rubber per tire. By the time I cover the cost of material, the cost of the master, and the cost of the mold there wouldn't be much room to cover the labor in making them. I feel like $4.50 per tire would be about as low as I would be able to go, and I'm not sure if people would pay that.
goodwin3224 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I know this is old but I would pay $5 per low pro
55pete351 Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I would certainly be interested in a modern Alcoa 10 hole rim and some better modern full size tires- steer and drives-in urethane. The kit pieces in the Monogram kit just do not cut it and wheels and tires make the model. A supplier on Shapeways does a 2 hole, 5 hole, 10 hole Peterbilt, and I believe Dayton spokes ..just an FYI. As far as price KJ my two cents is to work it all out and don't worry about the cost, you have to make money at this..once you have a cost maybe start a list of interested parties then go from there. You are a reputable supplier with quality parts and I'm sure that they would sell !! I would be in for two sets of wheels, steer tires, and drive tires for my two 1/16 projects.
