cobraman Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) This will be my next victim. Going to do yet another salt lake style build. This will be the 4 th. in a row and then I will lay off..........maybe. : ) Have this one done in my mind but what it ends up like is any guess. So far I sanded down all the snaps from the bed cover to make it look more like a hard cover. I drilled holes in the cover for the roll bar tubes I will be adding. I also drilled holes in the body behind the doors where I will have aluminum tube exhaust pipes exiting. I have some aluminum wheel discs ordered. I may have to replace these small wheels and tires with some a bit larger, not sure yet. Color is up in the air but it won't be that yellow enamel I used on the Studebaker I still did not get done as the paint is still soft. Edited February 3, 2015 by cobraman
Fortheloveofgassers Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Awesome idea. Was the tonue molded as pert of the body or is it removable? I will be following this build.
wayne swayze Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Ray...you'll soon have to go on a low sodium diet...meanwhile, I love the roll you're on! Bet this one won't be yellow!
cobraman Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 NO YELLOW ! : ). Yes the cover is a separate piece.
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Cool project. Oooking forward ro how you procede on this one. Keeo uo the good work.
wayne swayze Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I usually don't like to make build suggestions, but you might consider leaning the vent posts back a tad. Gives a "racier" profile, and you don't have to chop the top.
cobraman Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks for the suggestion. I will consider that.
Fortheloveofgassers Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Is the tonue cover molded on or is it a separate piece? Thanks
cobraman Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Got the body painted and did a mock up. Decided on red as you can see. Now to decal and then shoot some clear. Found something I thought was strange about the decals. Not using them anyway but you can see on the panel decals they made a hole for the gas filler on both sides even tho there is only one gas cap on the car.
cobraman Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Made some more headway on this one. Decals were added and body was cleared. This is just another mock up. I also installed the aluminum wheel discs. Should be able to wrap it up in the next couple of days. The part I added to tailgate will be for chute.
rv1963 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Wow that looks great Ray, the body is super smooth and I love the paint.
Bob Ellis Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 The answer on the hole on the decal is probably this; they copied and mirror imaged the other side to save time.
cobraman Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 This one is finished. Photos will be in the " Under Glass" section if interested.
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Tasty little raceruck. Perfect color too.
