This is my latest project, the Mercedes 300 SLR that Moss and Jenkinson drove to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia. A very nice kit (Revell of Germany) and a pleasure to build. Thanks for looking.

Real nice model you did indeed!

Let me ask you a pair of questions. Which paint you used, and where you got this upholstery for the seats? I will start soon to post the build up of it's cousin..the famous 300SL "Gullwing" by Italeri.

The seat upholstery is kit-supplied decals. They go on well (some Microsol helps) but are a bit too shiny, so I need to dull them down a bit. The body is painted with Rust-oleum Metallic Silver over grey primer. There is no clear coat or Future....its meant to look like basically bare aluminum. By the way, the front air scoop mesh is from an old Lotus kit, cut and shaped to fit the opening and painted silver.

That's coming along very nicely. The inboard front brakes setup is interesting. It looks like it could have been developed into an all wheel drive setup.

Looking forward to see it finished.

Thanks,

Here it is with its distinctive #722 numbering (denoting its start time in the Mille Miglia). Thanks for looking and for all your kind comments so far.

Bob,

what does the coupe kit look like? typical revell/germany?

Brian

It's based on the same kit you see here, just w/the gullwing body. The chassis/motor/guts are identical.
