twopaws Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Just picked up this resin kit and it says to use the ORIGINAL AMT 57 Chevy kit. I have had several incarnations of 57, what constitutes the Original. Better yet what does the box art look like ! If anyone has attempted this build I would appreciate any pointers you might want to share. Thanks to all responders.
oldnslow Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 This is the original kit, but any of it's later permeations should work.
Chuck Most Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 What Robert said. Use the '62-vintage "Trophy Series" kit, or any of it's numerous reissues. Do NOT use the 1998-vintage kit with the opening trunk.
Eshaver Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) The last re issue of the "Old " 57 was about 2013 . As Chuck said , they won't have the opening trunk or be in the Pro modeler series . I think the last box said something about a 57 Street rod . The chassis will have the metal axles too . John Goschke Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 A variety of reissues of the original AMT '57 Chevy. These should be easier to find than the original 1962 release. Might be best to stay away from the Boyd Coddington issue 'cause I think it only comes with those ridiculous wheels.
twopaws Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 thanks alot John for the box art. I guess over the years I have shied away from those versions. Built some of the Pro Modeler and Revell releases. Appreciate the extra work.
Mark Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The Coddington issue is also missing some of the stock suspension parts. It has a weird articulated rear axle that's designed to fit in place of the stock unit.
espo Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Build it with the 409 that comes in the kit with the blower and four side draft carbs. Nice surprise when someone lifts the hood.
57peppershaker Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) The blue latest issue, only comes with stock parts. Gone are the 409 & blowers ect & all the good ol' stuff. I'll have to check (kits are in the attic) but I thought the Boyd issue came with all the old stuff and huge wheels & low suspension ? (But I'm often wrong lol) If you only want it for a doner kit, get the cheapest ! Oh & as for the Pepper Shaker issues . . . . . . . Edited February 11, 2015 by 57peppershaker
