kilrathy10 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 This thing looks better and better.....Pipes are gonna look good either way.....Very nice work....
landman Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) There is no cowl emblem on the resin cab. I found one on the internet, copied, enlarged, and highlighted it. Then I scanned, reduced it and printed it on a decal sheet. At the same time I printed the billboard sign of the business in my background dio for the door of the truck and the upper front of the body. Well, it was all for nothing as my decal paper is clear and none of it showed. I've ordered white background paper. Meanwhile, I printed the sign on a label and stuck that on the body and clearcoated it. Doesn't look too professional. I won't put any on the truck's doors. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
landman Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) Started on the ladder and railing. Yes, it is woefully out of scale (probably 2 1/2") but only you and I will know. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
Mopar - D Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Looking good Pat! Your decals are a nice touch and I like your ladder. Your correct on the hand rail it's very heavy duty but will look good up there.
landman Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) Thanks Doc & Dan. The next step in the construction of the railing required some jigging. Since the decals in the kit might not show up over that blue I decided to make my own stripes using a stencil I had bought for my '34 Chevy. As you can see, it isn't made to go over small details, but with a few touch ups and dirty glasses it should look OK from 60 feet away. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
kilrathy10 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Stripes look pretty good....Just gotta hit them corners with a little thinner to get rid of that excess paint and you got it.....Very nice....
landman Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Thanks for the tip JT. I never thought of using thinner to wipe the excess rather than trying to hide it with blue. Good thing someone's thinking.
Mopar - D Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Pat the stripes are nice I also use Novis #2 to clean up over runs but when I do I will put tape on the areas that are good.
landman Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) The other side is somewhat better. The railing is done and in primer. It and the ladder will get the Alclad treatment. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
landman Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Mounted the body & installed the tailpipes. Â All that is left is to alclad and install the railing and the ladder, install the rear bumper and the front licence plate. then it is outside for a photo op for the "Under Glass" bit. landman Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) There. Â Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
Mopar - D Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Pat looking real nice looking forward to see it in under glass.
landman Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Since those aren't good enough to post under glass, I'll stick them here as a close off of the thread. I don't seem to ever get enough light. Â Â Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
