What a great job advancing this model. Wonderful. Great detail and I learned a few things. But I can't see me doing a 'casual' version now :-) This is gonna look great on some interviewer's desk ...

I'm saying, when done with so much realism as your detailing, it'll look down right intimidating!

Roadrunner Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 Somewhat bored this afternoon (as well as working on another project), I did decide to make a test template for the finger connections that will be added once the crate is painted. Obviously this template needs to be refined (or rebuilt), but the test turned out OK. I've also freehanded some screw slots to see if they'll look OK, and I believe they will, though I'll make a template for those as well, ensuring some consistency.
Roadrunner Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 One of my more obnoxious habits, is starting innumerous projects, including bases for same, that then languish for years, as I move onto other projects and start all over again. The good news here, is that I have a large variety of partially constructed bases to choose from, that can be re-purposed for other projects, but it appears that I have none that will fit this project well, this one being just a wee bit small for my liking, so I'll probably end up building yet another. The big question now, is do I go with an urban or open terrain type setting?

Roadrunner Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 I think that would look excellent too, Ray, but I don't have a lot of photos depicting these guns in a confined space. It might be more logical to have it displayed in an open environment. I'm still looking into this.

Roadrunner Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 Thanks, fellas. The tentative plan (for the moment anyway), is to build a partial emplacement, such as the illustration below. It seems that the weapon was usually positioned so as to give a clear and unobstructed, 360° field of fire, so other than very unusual circumstances, probably wouldn't be located amongst ruins.
