I understand where the "NNL" name comes from, Nameless National Luminaries..and how the NNL type shows were started,

but whats the difference between an NNL show and a regular show, like the GSL type??

The NNL is not a contest but a venue to show your latest creation and enjoy some bench racing bs with everyone. It was started as a sort of anti-contest. The only awards are voted on by the participants and are usually limited to "most popular" and "best theme" and sometimes a "best youth".

The GSL type is a full blown contest with awards in all catatgories except "most popular" given based on a few judges selections.

Hope that clears it up.

so, being compared to the 1:1 world, a normal contest would be like an ISCA show, and a NNL would be a saturday night cruise in..

makes sense.......thanks!

Guys, Gals and " Yuts" will bring more of their models to show at an NNL - cuz it isn't a contest. You can enjoy the satisfaction of people looking at your models without being judged.

You'll see everything from straight outa-da-box stuff up to and including contest/winning builds.

They are very low key with lot of interaction between builders.

Most NNL's will throw in a swap meet, youth table, and have door prizes as well.

I attend the NNL West every year and have never came away dissapointed.
