I decided to do a little bit more with this project.  While I could go ahead and paint the top I am trying to decide if I want to fix a small blemish above the rear fender.  That might be easy...or might lead down the rabbit hole of redoing the whole body.  I am open to your thoughts.

I decided to do a little bit more with this project.  While I could go ahead and paint the body I realized that I would not have been happy with the appearance.  I still have to clear coat the touch ups but I am much happier.  Now the goal is pretty simple.  Finish the car. My self imposed goal is January 31. Done. We'll see. I know this looks like a previous photo but it simply takes me back to where I was pre-damage. I am almost finished with the interior and am fairly happy with it given that the entire job is scratch built. Photos coming when my battery is charged.

Very ambitious project requiring some serious patience.I really like the idea of using the roof sections to construct the matching trunk profile.Good luck.

I  realized that I would have to have the rear seat in and out several times before I could move on to fitting windows and doors.  A seemingly small but important detail has been my focus for the last couple evenings,  the armrests for the rear seat.  There are three of them and they are identical.  I made them by laminating two pieces of styrene and letting them cure overnight.  Tonight I cut them to shape and tomorrow will sand then add the leather armrest details.  Then I have one other major detail-the radio.  Can you believe it?  A radio, factory installed in 1932! I  am  also going to add the under-runningboard antenna as well during final assembly.  These pieces don't look like much but should play the part well.

Two sick daughters with one in the hospital derailed me again but I have made a lot of progress.  I still have to trim the rear fenders and complete the rear seat but it is coming together.

I am now at the point in this build that I consider the desert. One detail I have been looking forward to building the most is the rear seat and radio consol.  This is an aspect of the car that really set it apart from many other Duesenbergs that I have seen.  Here it is in mock-up form.

I have set a new goal  for myself.  Finish the car before I reach one year since I initially posted this topic.  Wish me well on that as this one seems pretty happy being all apart.

The rear seat is complete ant the first coat of paint has been applied.  Lots of detail painting to do but this is a big step done. The front carpet has been reapplied and touched up. Probably not necessary as it will be largely invisible but I will know that it's there.

Thanks Charlie, both for the compliments and the concern . Amelia is supposed to be back to school today but they had a weather related cancelation.  I want that for work!

Progress is slow but I am getting there.  I am almost done with the last few tidbits for the interior then I can wrap up that part of the model.  Tomorrow I plan to install the windows, dash and the steering wheel.  Then at long last I can attach the body to the chassis.

I had some issues with the steering wheel dashboard interface.  You can probably see in this photo that I'm not yet there 100% but i think i have a solution.  Here's the photo of the car mock-up. Glass and interior are the next pieces to be installed.

I taught for ten years.

Trust me, the joy just isn't on the part of the student.

The completed rear seat.  I  am very happy with the appearance of this piece.

I would be too. As a matter of fact, the whole thing just fills me with ideas.

I finally got the body glued down,  sidemount carriers are in place and some final details done on the trunk. I think two or three evenings and I will have it wrapped up.

Here we have what I hope will be the last WIP photos in this thread.  After a final fitting of the radiator shell  and assembly of the lights we should be about done. The last big challenge will be fabricating the wipers. I set a deadline for myself of being done before this thread turned one year old. I think I will make it.
