Ebbro/Tamiya Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette

This is a brand new model released by Ebbro, and is a co-operation between them and Tamiya, the model has new moldings for the cab, front & rear doors, van body and clear parts, the rest of the kit, engine,gearbox, tyres and wheels, plus the front seats and dash are all from the Tamiya 2CV kit, after you have built the model, you will have a few parts to go into the spares box.

The decals included in the kit are for a French car specialist in England, based in Weybridge, Surry, http://www.grovegarageweybridge.co.uk/ or with using the french number plates supplied you can build it as a un-liveried French van that were used by most small business at the time, I wish Ebbro had supplied some better decals to go with this kit, hopefully the aftermarket companies will come to the rescue.

The front doors and the van rear doors can be fixed in the open or closed position, but they can't be made to function as supplied as they are, but still a nice function to have on a model,

I've never built an Ebbro kit before, but the instructions are typical Tamiya, included in the instructions is a small correction as the seats in the instructions are marked incorrectly, the left seat should actually be the right, and the right is actually the left .....

No Harry, you can either have them fixed in the open or closed position, but they don't have functioning hinges

I had mine on order from HLJ since it was announced at the German Toy Fair,a lot of places are already sold out, and it's not available here in the U.K until later this month.

I just had to have one, and might get another later if they do make it over here, while I was growing up in Spain, every small business had either one of these, or a Renault 4 van, Simca 1100 van or the later Citroen Arcadian.

Recently I have just started to take a liking to odd European cars (Wish there was a reliant robin kit),so I just picked up the ROG 2cv Charleston the other day and I'm really excited about building it. This is going to be a purchase in the near future for me.

Thats funny, I am guessing it was a bad translation, I dont know a lot about the Japanese language, but I do know that a lot of words do not translate to English correctly, or will be a different word You should read some of the kit listings at Hobby Search, some will make you laugh at how stuff was translated .

Totally agree on the Reliant Robin... I would definitely like to build the yellow one from Only Fools and Horses

And the movie with the 2CV fourgonnette is one of the original Pink Panthers with Peter Sellers as inspector Clouseau

That was a Reliant Regal Supervan 3, not a Robin, my first job when I left school back in 1978 was working for a Reliant dealer, those Robin's are fun things to drive ....

That looks very interesting - cheers for the write-up. I wonder if this means we may see other 2CV variants, whether a much earlier 2CV (with the ripple bonnet) or even something more exotic such as a Mehari or a Bijou.

Either of them would go down well with me, Mehari's were everywhere in Spain, but thinking outside the box, if Ebbro could work with some of the other Tamiya kits, we could have a Fiat 500 Jolly, and they could do something with the Tamiya Mini kits,

Mmmm - if they did a Riley Elf, then that would save me having to make my own!! Other possible Mini variants would be a Broadspeed coupe, or Traveller / Countryman, all three of which I imagine would sell well in Japan.

Another possible & more obscure Tamiya conversion would be turning the Jag Mk2 into a Mk1. I'm tempted to try that one myself anyway, as the alterations required are relatively simple (in fact my research shows the changes required to be less extensive than I originally thought). Mine would be on steels & fully spatted though, for the full design purity. Would also look good displayed (as the missing link) between a Revellogram XK120 & a Tamiya Mk2

Woseley Horney/Riley Elf would be great, traveller would be a great model to have, infact I would buy any Mini models they released, but I'd much prefer them to turn the MK2 into an S type, a much under rated Jag'

If nobody's answered yet, it's from Return of the Pink Panther, which is kinda like the orphaned Pink Panther movie, it was Sellers and Blake Edwards, but was done by UA instead of MGM since it was like 12 years after Shot in the Dark and the other PP movies without Sellers flopped. After it did well, MGM got back on board and did Pink Panther Strikes Again and the rest is history. It can be a little hard to find on DVD, but it's worth tracking down if your a fan of the 70's Panther movies. Same kinda gags that are in Strikes Again, lots of folks get them mixed up. I'm a huge Sellers/Edwards/Panther fan, in case it doesn't show...

Ah procrastination scores again! I've always meant to do the conversion from a 2CV sedan and never got around to it. Now we merely need to buy a couple. Hmmm... there was a pickup version too?
